Tapeworm Diet: Using Beef Tapeworms in Humans

Background

It is undeniable that people will resort to extreme measures in a desperate attempt to shed those extra pounds, but ingesting tapeworms in order to lose weight is not only a radical method but also an extremely dangerous one.

Thankfully the use of tapeworms as a diet aid is illegal in the US and for good reason. Tapeworm infestation can result in the formation of cysts in the liver, eyes, brain, and spinal cord with potentially lethal consequences.

Tapeworm Diet Basics

tapeworm-dietAlthough it is not possible to attempt the Tapeworm diet in most countries, it is being offered at some places in Mexico. When you arrive at the treatment location you are given beef tapeworm cysts that have been identified microscopically. This is vitally important because some cows may host pig tapeworms, which are very dangerous.

The tapeworm interferes with your digestion and absorption of nutrients, which means that you can consume more calories and still lose weight. However the parasite also competes for vitamins and other important nutrients, which may result in a nutritional deficiency.

According to some scientists, tapeworm infestation can result in a loss of one to two pounds per week. Once the target weight loss is reached, an antibiotic is given, which kills the tapeworm so it can be expelled.

Costs and Expenses

It appears that the treatment is only available in Mexico at the time of this review and the approximate cost is $1500.

Pros of the Tapeworm Diet

  • Weight loss is very likely.
  • Some scientists believe that tapeworms can also help to alleviate allergies such as hay fever.

Cons of the Tapeworm Diet

  • Extremely dangerous, can cause unpleasant side effects and in some cases can be lethal.
  • Does not appear to be adequate protection for consumers in regard to regulation and safety analysis.
  • Rebound weight gain is most likely once the tapeworm is expelled.
  • Tapeworms can cause a swollen stomach which is not physically attractive and goes against the desired result.
  • Not available in most countries.
  • Treatment is expensive and will also need to include travel expenses.

Conclusions

It goes without saying that the Tapeworm Diet is extremely risky and can cause a wide rage of undesirable side effects including death. In addition to this, dieters will probably regain all the weight that is lost if they continue with the same eating habits after the tapeworm is expelled.

Dieters are advised to stick with proven weight loss methods such as consuming less calories and increasing physical activity, rather than risking their lives with a technique that is harmful and unlikely to yield positive long term results by trying the tapeworm diet.

Are you people morons?? Do you not realize that a diet like this can potentially kill you. There is a much much safer solution to this. Its called EXERCISE! Take your pick. Would you rather have a parasite invade your body by your own hand and have it eat through your intestinal walls and get in your blood stream and infect yyout brain or would you take the extra step and lose weight the old fashioned way? This speaks out to every idiotic person who has tried this diet. Consider this as a future referance to all who reads this.

For one, tapeworms are parasitic. If anything is compared to parasites, don’t eat it. Second, a tapeworm can break through your small intestine after all your fat is gone and go for your other organs. Try having a tapeworm eating at your brain stem. It shuts everything down. Its safer at your local gym.

Sounds like you may need to pick up a Biology book and study the life cycle of a tapeworm. Larva bore through the intestine, enter blood stream and then form cysts in muscle tissue. In this state they are dormant but can cause pain. There they wait for another organism to eat the muscle and begin the cycle again in the gut of the new organism. Tapeworms don’t eat brain stems.

I think that the tapeworm diet is a risky thing. Yea.. sure you lose the weight… then what?? without changing your eating habits, your still going to gain the weight back after you kill the tapeworm….. and what if the tapeworm reproduces faster than the doctor expected… YOUR SCREWED. but hey… like i said.. its risky… just like if you were going to get surgery… risky… but the tape worm does interfere with getting very important nutrients and vitamins… it doesn’t matter if you take pills… they’re still sucking it out of you… lazy ass society…. depending on parasites and surgery for weight loss….

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I am doing this right now, but I am using the fish tapeworm which is the least dangerous of the three common species, but I’d like to think that I am doing it smart. Im taking b12 vitamins, and im going to kill it with anti parasite drugs in three months time so that It dont get big enough to get a chance to produce eggs that could possibly migrate to places I dont want them. I understand it is gross to most people, and everyone has their own opinions, but for me, it has worked better than anything else ive ever tried. And I should mention Ive had no bad side effects or complications. Im not saying anyone should do it, im just giving my experience.

This diet works for the amount of time your willing to put your body through torture. I was raised to eat heathy foods with every meal. AND It’s NOT HARD TO GET HEALTHY FOOD. Diets aren’t just meant to keep your body healty, while you work out for few months or so and stop… diets should be an everyday thing. Just doing a diet and not working out will still make you lose weight sure.. but then you have all this extra skin (sorry if I gross anyone out), and it’s very unattractive. Work out by doing a nice jog, Eliptical, stairs, or go out for a nice bike ride. In some conditions some of these are difficult due to weather. I myself live in Illinois and Working out in the winter is the hardest. Just put forth the effort and you’ll lose weight and look fantastic! I myself use to weigh 210 Lbs. Now I weight 185 Lbs! Sure It took me a little longer. But at least I don’t have to worry about the damage the PARASITE will do to my body.. HAPPY DIETING :D

surgery and amphetamines kill people more often than tapeworms. it’s very, very rare for a person infected with a beef tapeworm to die. i’d challenge you to find one case out of a million. on the other hand, diet surgery-related death occurs within one month in 2% of patients. two percent! if you’re considering surgery… try a tapeworm first.

If antibiotics kill the tapeworm, then why should people worry? They should be nervous when the tapeworms evolve and can withstand the effects of the antibiotics.

Comon people! Is your vanity actually worth risking your life over? Well I have news for you this is no joke. You really want an organisim/parasite attaching to your vital organs causing you to lose so much weight and become so anemic you cant walk? well that was me with 41 hrs left to live because i unintentionally became infected with disgusting parasitic worms. Yeah I lost 40 lbs in a month but the mental and physical disfigurement has almost left me speechless when I read about your benefits. What if you injuested this worm and found no way to get rid if it? YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR BODY AND DIE! THEY WILL EVENTUALLY SWIM IN YOUR BLOOD LIKE SNAKES AND CONSUME YOU!People who want to experement try it, godspeed. These things have been around as long as dinasours . What if they medically mutate againsed the drugs that cure it? Take MRSA for example or AIDS. All the money in the world wont save you..

did you all see the episode of 1,000 ways to die on Spike about the woman who tried this diet? Her tapeworm had it’s own babies inside her and well you must know where this is going all the tapeworms wreaked havoc on her insides and she bled to death internally. Don’t worry though, she looked super great in that size 4 dress at her funeral!
