7 Day Diet

7-daysThe Seven Day Diet is a fad that continues to circulate despite being very unbalanced.

This diet is a simple 7 day plan that emphasizes a different food group each day while eliminating others completely.

The origin of this diet is unknown and despite its questionable safety people do report losing weight on the 7 day diet.

This diet is classified as a fad diet because its strange restrictions, popularity, and short term results.

AVOID. This diet should not be considered as a viable option for weight loss. It is unbalanced and very low in calories.

7 Day Diet Meal Plan

Monday

Calories: Varies

Eat as much fruit (and juices) as you wish of any fruits, except bananas.
Tuesday

Calories: Varies

Eat all of the vegetables (and vegetable soup) that you wish.
Wednesday

A combination of Monday & Tuesday (i.e. fruit – except bananas, juices, vegetables, vegetable soups).
Thursday

Calories: 1254

Eat 5 bananas and drink 5 glasses of whole milk. Some versions say 8 bananas and 4 glass of milk.
Friday

Calories: Varies

Eat 4 steaks of meat (3 ounces each – beef/chicken/fish) with unlimited green vegetables.
Saturday

Calories: Varies

Eat 4 steaks of meat (3 ounces each – beef/chicken/fish) with unlimited green vegetables.
Sunday

Exercise Recommendations

Exercise isn’t included in the 7 day diet and it could be dangerous to perform a lot of physical activity on the potentially low calorie days of the plan, especially for people with blood sugar regulation issues.

Calorie Vagueness

One of the most troubling parts of this plan is the vagueness of the calorie amounts for each day.

Only on Thursday can we nail down a calorie total. The other days are a bit sketchy at best.

For instance, on Monday dieters are told to eat nothing but fruit or drink fruit juice.  A person could eat 5 small apples and arrive at only 260 calories for the whole day or a person could consume 3 oranges, 3 apples, and 6 8oz glasses of grape juice and arrive at 1325 calories for Monday.

7 Day just leaves too much room for guess work and potentially too little calories.

Why not try Weight Loss Grail to lose  28 Pounds in 28 Days, which is a much healthier calorie restricting diet.

Nutrient Deficiencies

Despite the calorie problems, this plan is also deficient in essential nutrients most days and could have harmful amounts of saturated fat on certain days as well.

For example, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the diet plan would lead to deficiencies in protein, fat, calcium, and iron.  On Thursday through Sunday the 7 day diet could be high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Thursday would yield 25 grams of sarurated fat and 96mg of cholesterol. *

Someone eating 4 beef sirloin steaks would be getting 20 grams of saturated fat and 256mg of cholesterol.*

Other Dangers

Fad diets like this one often lead to a cycle of yoyo dieting. This cycle of gaining weight and losing weight is hard on the body and can eventually wreck a person’s metabolism.

A diet plan that is not to restrictive, well balanced nutritionally, teaches portion control, and addresses emotional reasons for overeating is always best in the long run.

The 7 day diet is not such a plan and will most likely not deliver long term weight loss results or health.

This diet worked very well for me. I did it for 2 weeks and lost 12 lbs. I ate the soup at least once a day. I tried doing a third week and ended up coming off after Thursday (banana day) Now I am eating a typical daily diet with smaller portions minus bread, sweets & cheese except for just one day a week and the good thing is – I have no desire to gorge myself. I plan on eating my modified normal for two weeks and plan on going back the soup, veggie, fruit diet to lose the last 10-15 I need to. Afterward, I plan on keeping bread, pasta, cheese, sweets out or only on 1 day a week and drink plenty of water and no soda to maintain.

This is just to jump start your body to lose weight especially after not doing anything all winter long. This diet and will not be effective if you continue to do this diet the following week. You have to change your eating habit week to week to continue losing weight.

Vega, you’re 13. You shouldn’t be dieting without a doctor’s permission. If you want, eat healthy and exercise. Don’t go overboard. Balance in all things in life. If you need to lose weight, ask a doctor. A school nurse. Someone who can guide to to eating healthy.

I tried the 7 day detox and i went directly by the diet on Dec. 31, 2012 and i was amazed. I lost 12 pounds after the 7 days on detoxing. I saw a difference within 3 days. I exercised about 2 days and read later that it is not recommended. I think i felt weak during periods because of the exercising. I am starting again tomorrow because i like the results so i am starting it again tomorrow.

Me and my husband usually do this diet as a jump start because if done properly, you can lose up to seven pounds in the week. But it is water weight not fat. We do this because it motivates us to keep going the following week.

You may have veggies but the point of the meat is to get protein. The diet suggests for vegitarians to supplement meat for tofu.

The version of this diet that I swear by for a detox a few times a year states that you may have the soup any day.

I just got back from holidays and gained eight extra pounds. IU have never been on a diet before and I’m almost 30, so I searched around and I came accross this diet. I started this diet four days ago and I have already lost five pound. I have changed few things around. Here is what I did, differently.
    First Day
    day one of diet
what I had and the calories in them
    peach 38
    peach 38
    mandarin 27
    water melon 48
    cabbage 22
    zucchini 22
    cantaloupe 50
    Broccoli 27
    asparagus 20
    red kidney beans 130
    salad dressing 140
    caloried : 562
    Second day of the diet
    what I had /calories
    water melon 48
    garden salad 60
    zucchini 22
    cabbage 22
    carrets 30
    broccoli 27
    asparagus 20

    red kidney 80
    tomatoe 22
    salary 19
    salad dressing 140
    beets 30
total calories for the day 520
the third day I basically had the same thing but I also added a vegtable soup and lentils
fourth day I just had two banana and two glasses of milk and three bowls of vegtable soup with lentils.
Tomorrow I’m planing on having tuna with vegtables, and lots of tomatoes, and vegtable soup with lentils.
I have lots of energy. I have also tried to get at least 15 mins of work out in my day also.
I will stop the diet by day six as I’m sure I will lose the extra weight that I had gained and back to just eating healthy. When I started I was 100 pounds, I’m currenty 95 and I just need to go down to 92 pounds, to be at the weight I need to be. By the way I’m not to skinny, I’m just short and as soon as I gain even a pound it shows on me. Anyhow hope this helps and good luck. I recommend changing the diet so you consume enough calories that you have energy, the worst thing you can do is be hungry, eat a vegtabe every time you get hungry. Take a look at how much calorie the vegtables and the friuts you are eating have, before you eat them. Each day add up the calorie intake. Also consult with your doctore to see how much calories you also need to consume to maintain your weight and to also lose weight. I know for myself, when I have 1200 calories a day, my wieght is consistant and I dont gain or lose. So when I over eat on some days, I control myself the next day. this really helps in one maintaning there weight. Good luck

if you can try to get twienty mins of work out a day.
