10 Pounds in 10 Days

By Mizpah Matus B.Hlth.Sc(Hons)

10 Pounds in 10 Days is a weight loss program created by television personality and fitness trainer, Jackie Warner.

She reveals the methods that get her celebrity clients in shape ultra-fast, so that you too can achieve rapid results such as a pound a day.

Jackie Warner is also the author of This is Why You’re Fat.

10 Pounds in 10 Days Basics

10-pounds-10-daysThe program consists of three 10-day phases.

It is designed to help you lose ten pounds fast and then continue losing weight over thirty days.

Phase 1

Involves the use of a 900-calorie diet to quickly stimulate weight loss. You will emphasize foods like whole grains and vegetables that are high in fiber and nutrients.

This helps to reduce carbohydrate cravings by keeping your blood sugar levels in balance.

By the end of phase 1 you can expect to have lost up to ten pounds.

Phase 2

This stage allows a 1200 calorie intake daily and introduces you to ten superstar foods. These foods have specific benefits that enhance your weight loss efforts.

For example, asparagus helps the liver eliminate toxins and has a strong anti-inflammatory effect. Brown rice provides manganese, which enhances the synthesis of fatty acids, important for weight loss.

You will also eat cellulite-busting foods such as broccoli, kale and parsley.

Phase 3

The last phase increases your calorie allowance to 1500. You are advised to eat two eggs every day because they are high in protein and fat-burning lecithin.

Also Includes Maintenance Guidelines

Warner also offers advice for maintaining your weight loss. This basically entails following the phase 3 diet but with up to two treat meals on the weekend.

Cons

  • Diet is extremely restrictive and requires elimination of many foods.
  • Meal plans are lacking in variety.
  • The diet is below the calorie limit that is regarded as acceptable for healthy weight loss.
  • Some dieters will experience fatigue and hunger on low-calorie diets.
  • Many will struggle to find enough energy to perform the required exercise routine with such low calories.

Quick Weight Loss Extreme Low-Calorie!

Most people will lose weight very quickly on this program because it combines extreme calorie restriction with increased physical activity.

However, calorie intake on this diet is well below the generally acceptable levels for healthy weight loss. This can increase the risk of nutrient deficiencies, chronic health problems and slow metabolism that could potentially trigger rebound weight gain.

I am doing phase 1, but I’m confused about how to do the sets and how many total. On day 1 the program has three sections where in each section, you do two sets of each exercise before jumping rope. By the end of the entire workout, should I have done FOUR sets of each workout (two sets in each section before jumping rope and going to the next section)? I’m confused about when I repeat the exercises and how many times I repeat them. Thanks!

is this week the same food you eat everyday?

You have the basics here 950×10 1200×10 1500×10 just head for a nutrition site and match calorie intake to your favorite foods. There are also thousands of exercise videos on the net for every fitness level. Just remember. Log everything you eat for better of worse. You only have X calories to work with daily so use them wisely or you’re just fooling yourself. That handful of fries just took 3/4 of your daily calorie count.

I am doing this program for the 2nd time. I did it last year and it helped to kickstart a 40 lb weight loss in 4.5 months. And I didn’t even do the exercises. I did follow her moderation plan to a T though (eat “clean” all week and have 2 cheat meals up to 1500 calories a piece on the weekend). I backslid this year after my dad passed away and I’m using this plan again to get back in gear. I’m going to do the exercising this time and I hope it will help me to lose more weight and/or gain muscle. The plan is not that hard to do – the first 10 days are the hardest just because of the caloric restriction. This time, I am switching it up a little. I hate broccoli so I am doing cauliflower instead (less calories, less sugar but also less vitamins). I hate sprouts so I am just leaving them off. Adding a few blueberries to my morning oatmeal (not enough to matter calorically though) and the splash of almond milk reserved for coffee also to the oatmeal to make it more palatable. This is a good plan for you if you can stick to it. Last time, if I was hungry at night – and you are hungry at night, especially on the first phase – I would drink water with a dash of cayenne pepper and a splash of lemon to stave off cravings and it really worked.

  • lilly

this looks like it would work, im happy thats its not a bunch of calorie counting and stuff(that it tells you what you can and cant eat)! is there a limit on working out?

  • Wendy

I really would love to try this diet, but my blood type is B+ and some of the food recommended I cannot eat, example – Chicken, Bacon, Tomatoes, Avocados.

What do recommend I replace these foods with?

  • Natalie Fraser

Sounds great will like to know more

  • Shomz

Does the water have to be cold?

    • Kate

Since it says that specifically, you should assume yes, it should be cold.

The potential weight-loss benefit of cold water is that, when consuming cold water, your body needs to work (burn calories) to bring your core body temperature back up to 98.6 degrees.

      • Anon

What Talia said is kind of harsh…I agree there is no miracle way to keep weight off and most of these crash diets should only be used as a jump start. But i know of many people who exercise eat well and can’t lose a lot of weight. In regards to the water, there are benefits to drinking water cold as well as drinking it warm. After a meal it is suggested to drink some warm water as it helps your digestive system. drinking something cold is best after a run or a work out. pr BEFORE a meal but it shouldn’t be extremely cold.

      • taila

This has never been scientifically proven, only assumed. If you drink a lot of cold water thinking this will make you lose weight, you are an a**. What helps is not shoveling in all those pork rinds, french fries, fast foods, candy bars, ice cream etc and eating IN MODERATION: fresh fruits, vegetables, small amounts of fish and chicken and GETTING OFF YOUR BUTT

  • Anna

i loved it, it made me feel so much better and refreshed! :D
