Nu-Kitchen Meal Delivery Review

Nu-Kitchen is a diet food service delivering fresh meals to your door in the New York City Area. Nu-Kitchen is different from other delivery companies in that their food is never frozen, but prepared fresh from scratch according to your dietary needs and delivered refrigerated to your door daily.

Nu-kitchen formulates their meals based on the USDA guidelines of 21% protein, 34%fat, and 45% carbs, but can be customized according to a customer’s dietary needs and gender. The days food that I received including three meals and two snacks was just under 1500 calories.

Packaging, Delivery and Service

Nu-Kitchen offers many different delivery options according to your needs and options chosen, but fresh food is delivered daily. The meals are individually packaged in microwaveable containers and are shipped in a refrigeration bag which is recollected by Nu-Kitchen each evening.

The food containers are #s 1 and 2 plastics and are recyclable.

Preparation Required

Most food is packaged in microwaveable plastic trays and the intended reheating method is the microwave. Most meals are ready in about 2 minutes.

Best Dishes

All of the meals I sampled were for the most part restaurant quality and tasted great with good use of flavor combinations. The best meal was the Scechuan Style Beef Flank Steak with Spicy Soba Noodles and Sesame Broccoli & Carrots.

Worst Dishes

I honestly couldn’t label any meal as worst as all food was great tasting and fresh.

Note: I was out of the delivery area so  my food did encounter extra shipping and handling which no doubt caused some of the food appear slightly damaged in the photo’s below.

Nu-Kitchen Overview

Overall, Nu-Kitchen delivered what they promised which was fresh, great tasting meals made from scratch. I liked the fact that everything was freshly prepared including the snacks, which many similar companies include prepackaged items as snacks.

Compared to other similar services, Nu-Kitchen is higher in price, but the customized service and quality of the food justifies the program’s increased costs.

I would have liked to have seen nutrition and ingredient information on the meal labels. This information is available on-line as a Microsoft Excel document, but is slightly difficult to locate.

Nukitchen is commended for having many options for consumers to choose from as well as recollecting some of the packaging materials which means less waste. The only downside to their service is the limited delivery area.
