Metabolism B Diet: Metabolism MiracleThe Metabolism Miracle by dietitian Diane Kress, owner and director of the Nutrition Center of Morristown, says there is a specific reason why some people can eat all they want and never gain weight, while others have to struggle.

She claims that at least 45 percent of dieters have a condition called “Metabolism B” that causes their body to more easily convert carbohydrates from food into excess body fat.

In her book, The Metabolism Miracle, Kress outlines a weight loss plan that is based on a program she has offered to thousands of patients in New Jersey who have successfully dropped extra pounds and regained control of their metabolism.

Metabolism B Diet Basics


Diane Kress says that people with “Metabolism B” cannot eat a high amount of carbohydrates without gaining weight.

A special diet is required that involves limiting the intake of foods containing carbohydrates to allow them to get back into balance again.

Phase One: Stabilizing Glucose

The first part of  Metabolism Miracle takes eight weeks and is designed to stabilize blood glucose levels, detoxify your liver and initiate the shrinkage of your fat cells.

This phase called “Carb Rehab” involves a very low carbohydrate diet with an emphasis on lean proteins and non-starchy vegetables.

Dieters can expect to see an improvement in their blood pressure and cholesterol levels, increased energy and a reduction in body weight.

Phase Two: Adding Healthy Carbs

In the next phase you start to transition to a higher intake of carbohydrates by gradually adding “healthy carbs” back into your eating plan.

Low-glycemic carbohydrates are consumed in small amounts at regular intervals during the day. You will consume a food containing 11-20 grams of carbs before exercise, at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It is also important not to go more than five hours without eating a carbohydrate-containing food.

Phase Three: Maintenance

The final phase is called “Lifetime Weight Maintenance” and provides the tools you need to keep the weight off for good.

You will learn the precise amount of carbohydrates that works for you, as well as how far apart to space your servings of carbohydrate foods.

The Metabolism Miracle also includes advice on how to eat in restaurants, guidelines for what you should do if you break the diet, a sample meal plan and a collection of simple recipes.

Egg whites, low fat cottage cheese, fish, lean beef, chicken breast, turkey,bacon, almonds, peanut butter, low-carb bread, wild rice, cauliflower, eggplant, spinach, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, broccoli, asparagus, apple, strawberries, dark chocolate, Splenda, green tea.

Spoonful of natural peanut butter

Decaf coffee with half-and-half and Splenda

Lunch

30 Minutes of Exercise Daily

Exercise is regarded as a critical link for anyone on Metabolism Miracle because it helps to decrease blood sugar, regulate insulin release and stimulates your muscles so you can burn more fat.

You should do thirty minutes of exercise a day but you don’t have to do it all in once. It is perfectly fine to break it up into two or three segments of ten to fifteen minutes each.

The type of physical activity you choose is up to you but some possibilities include walking, swimming, gardening, biking, yoga, weight training, tennis and swimming.

    This is they only diet that has ever worked for me, the first week is hard… however my cravings went away after that which helped a ton. I lose an average of a lb a day & cheated over Thanksgiving & still managed to lose somehow. I hit a plateau but managed that by adding ingredients to eatch meal that create a burn ( such as peppers, cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic, vinegar, etc) plus I added a bit of healthy fats throughout each day (olive oil, nuts/seeds avocado etc) I had a hard time going without milk, but I’ve found that I can substitute with almond milk.

    This is exactly the same diet as Atkins just a new name. So when it’s given a different name people believe it’s more healthy even though they say Atkins is dangerous? This claim of being a new diet is fraud and theft. I am on Atkins and I know all about the 4 Phases.
    Phase 1 – Induction
    Phase 2 – Ongoing weight loss
    Phase 3 – Pre-maintenance
    Phase 4 – Maintenance

    Looks familiar? Exactly! Stick with the original Atkins and be sure you’re doing it right.

    Hi. I would just like to say no this is not a scam as some people may think.I have been a vegan for four years now and recently became a raw foodist. All I eat is fruits veggies nuts and tofu and I managed to gain weight. Of course you shouldn’t stuff your face with junk food that’s filled with carbs but that’s not the only reason people gain weight. I eat very clean I’ve even cut out bread from my diet. I think this book makes a lot of sense and ever since I’ve started it I’ve lost 2 pounds and its only been a week.I can already see the difference. I recommend this book to all my friends and hope to incorporate this diet or new “lifestyle in my daily routine forever.

    I started this diet right after Thanksgiving because I felt like crap after the holiday from binge eating and drinking. After starting this book, I couldn’t put it down. I have stuck to it through the entire holiday season, and even though the scale says I have only lost 5 lbs., I have received several compliments from several people saying they can tell I’ve lost weight. Usually, people can’t see weight loss results until 10 – 15 lbs! I managed to get throught the holidays without gaining a single ounce…which I haven’t been able to say in years! I don’t have that constant bloated and “fluffy” feeling I used to have. I have even included some red wine and some vodka sodas. If i hadn’t had the cocktails and if I’d been able to keep my regular workout schedule during the busy time, I’d probably be down more weight. This has been way easier that counting every single calorie. Low fat protein options keep the saturated fat down. Good luck if you try it! It’s a no brainer.

    Rubbish!

    Stop eating high.carbohydrate garbage food, you won’t have insulin/glucose issues and you won’t be obese. Ironic people come up worth new ways to make money by calling eating clean a magical cure for some “syndrome” wake up people!

    I started this diet in August, 2012. I decided on this one because I knew I needed to get a handle on overeating carbs/sugars. Once I made the solid decision to stick to it, I found that it wasn’t too difficult. I have lost 25 pounds so far, with 20 more to go. Although you are supposed to go to phase 2, I have stayed on phase one for three months. I use the “Lose It” app on my phone to track all my food, fats, carbs and calories, so along with this diet, I am also following “Lose It’s” low calorie plan as well. Since I was having difficulty drinking the water I was supposed to on a daily basis, I added a water tracking app that reminds me to drink water daily and allows me to track that too. It seems like a lot, but these apps keep my diet and nutrition, as well as my water intake fresh in my mind, and keeps me on track. I found a 45 calorie/slice bread that has only 5g net carbs per slice, and a tortilla that has only 3g net carbs. For family meals, everyone else has the carb/starch side dish like rice, potatoes, pasta, and I just skip that and only have the meat and veggies. I try to keep processed foods (temptation) out of the house, and if it is here I put it in a high up inconvenient location (out of sight, out of mind!) I have had some cravings, but really make a great effort to not give in (too much) and make up for it on other days by restricting calories and carbs even further. My only concern is stalling my weight loss through too few calories and carbs. I think my success so far has much to do with my committment to making mindful eating choices. No matter what diet I went on, if I wasn’t fully committed to this, then it never would have happened, which is why I was never able to stick to anything in the past. Now with the holidays approaching, I am focusing on dealing with cravings, and being able to be around food that I love without stuffing myself!

    I have been on this plan for six weeks now and have lost 15 pounds. Am also down 16 and 1/2 inches! the best results I have ever had trying to lose weight. I don’t feel hungry between meals and my cravings for candy, chocolate etc are gone!

    I have been on this diet for 32 days now and I started out at 265 pounds. The Metabolism Miracle book showed that I should have a 22-29 pound weight loss within the first eight weeks which is step 1. I have already lost 26 pounds. I have not remeasured yet but I am in several of my old clothes I was no longer fitting in. I did personally get a little constipated but it would not have happened if I followed the directions and drank all the water it tells you to. It was an easy fix and I feel much better and stronger than when I started. My friends are accusing me of becoming a food snob which I find to be enjoyable. I will not lie and say that I have zero cravings. Changing your diet and the way you eat is not an easy habit to break. It is not always about a craving as much as it can be about changing how you handle things. I have a perfect example from the other day when I grilled a beautiful cod fillet with a side of grilled asaragus. It was delicious and I was full but because we were all outside with the grill and a sunny day, my mind was trying to tell me we should have chips and beer and smores because that is what I would do in the past. Mind over matter. In my personal opinion, kicking a food habit will be the hardest thing I ever do for myself. This is coming from an ex smoker as well. You can always remove yourself from situations with cigarrettes but food is everywhere. Stay strong and enjoy the recipes this diet has to offer. I am losing weight and only have 89 more pounds to go.

      I’ve spent the better part of the day researching this book because of that. I have the dedication and commitment, just need the guidance.

      So, thank you very much for your comments regarding this eating plan. I won’t refer to it as a diet, because I’m looking for healthy changes that apparently need to be made in my eating habits. I hope to report back with a similar success story such as yours.

    I Love this plan … i feel great today… i am donw 25 lbs and have not given up anything i didnt crave witch is nothing sweet cause it takes away those cravings for sweets… a great program

      I just read your post and I am really excited since I am in the same boat as you today. I have currently lost 26 pounds so I am curious if you are continuing to lose since you posted this in February?? If you wouldn’t mind replying that would be wonderful.

    Regarding the ‘CONS’ :
    This plan IS unique from other ‘low-carb’ plans as it considers the timing of higher impact carbs into your body, so your body doesn’t store the excess carbs in fat storage….not re-gaining lost weight again.
    The plan encourages the natural sweetener Stevia where possible….and where not possible, only one ‘man-made’ sweetener, sucralose,.. which is the only one not absorbed by the digestive system.
    …Only sugar-laden desserts are eliminated, which is true for all diets. There are plenty of desserts in this book to tease the palate. ;)
