LA Weight Loss
Background
LA Weight Loss used to be a center-based weight loss program with over 650 centers worldwide.
Over recent years LA Weight Loss clinics have been closing down, and the franchise company closed down at the beginning of 2010. There are now just a few centers located in North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Canada. LA Weight Loss is transitioning from a center based program into one that is totally online based.
The LA Weight Loss clinics attracted some controversy. This was often due to the significant costs involved with the program and the hard selling practices of some sales staff. However, with the new online LA Weight Loss program, dieters have access to LA’s effective plans but with less cost involved.
Most of the LA Weight Loss products are available from their new website and they are trying to restore their reputation after they received such bad press as the result of many people losing money when the centers closed.
LA Weight Loss Rapid Results Diet
LA Weight Loss Rapid Results uses the Transmetabolic Factor which is supposed to help the body to continuously burn calories throughout the day, boost energy, and help control appetite for maximum weight loss. They believe it’s the key to permanent weight loss primarily because it works with the body, not against it.
The New LA Weight Loss Diet consists of 5 steps.
Step 1 is The 2-Day KickStart Plan featuring LA Weight Loss TakeOFF™ Juice.
This step is to be completed for the first 2 days and then every 14 days of the program. This is similar to detox and is supposed to prepare the body for weight loss.
Step 2 consists of The LA Rapid Results Diet System.
Dieters are to use The Rapid Results Diet System until they lose 20 pounds or reach their goal weight. Dieters use the LA Rapid Results Food Guide to plan meals and it consists of nine main categories: Proteins, Vegetables, Fruits, Starches, LA Lites Bars, Dairy, Fats, Beverages and Extras. Each day dieters are to consume a specific number of servings allotted based on individual needs.
Step 3 is the transitional phase using LA My Way Food Guide until goal weight is reached.
This stage is started after 20 pounds are lost and continues until the dieter reaches their goal weight. It is designed to transition dieters into eating a wider variety of foods while still controlling calories.
Step 4 is to use two LA Lites™ Bars every day throughout the program.
LA Lite bars are designed to help with cravings and control in between meal hunger.
Step 5 is to use the LA SmartTrim Nutritionals™ along with the diet program daily.
This is a supplement line designed by LA to supply dieters’ bodies with the vitamins and minerals that support weight loss.
Exercise
LA Weight Loss recommends that dieters exercise at least 3 times a week to achieve maximum results on the Rapid Results Program.
LA Weight Loss Costs
The LA Complete Success System, which includes all products and guides as well as online support, costs $289.99 a month if automatic rebilling is selected or $419.99 if one month is purchased at a time.
All products and program parts are available separately and vary in price.
Conclusions
LA Weight Loss has worked for many people and people keep coming back to them as the program is straight forward and easy to follow. However, this program relies heavily on the use of prepackaged processed food, special juices, and supplements. While people may indeed lose weight using the LA Weight Loss Rapid results program, it isn’t exactly teaching dieters how to eat healthy and get the vital nutrients they need from fresh whole foods.
For dieters who aren’t concerned about eating processed food then LA Weight Loss could be a good option, but for those that want to lose weight in a healthier way, then there are certainly cheaper and better diet plans available.

Hi,
I just joined LA weight loss, and have finished my 2-day take off. I’m on the rapid weight loss plan right now and the counselor insists I need to the LA Lites. Is this true, and is there a cheaper alternative?

Hi Chantel,
I have the journal and it is something you should be able to create yourself. Breakfast, Mid Am, Lunch, Mid PM, Dinner. 8 boxes to check off for water, 1 box each for Fat, Salt, Dairy and 2 boxes for L.A. Lites. Hope this helps you.
Purple is:
Breakfast 1 Fruit and 1 LA Lite
Lunch – 1 Protein, 2 Vegetable, 1 Fruit, 1 Starch
Dinner – 1 Protein, 2 Vegetable, 1 Fruit, 1 Starch,
1 LA Lite
Hope this helps. I have the cards for the purple and the gold.
Hi!
I did this program a few years ago and lost 50 pounds. I loved it. I would like to start again but I need the purple book and I would also love the food journal-diary book. Any suggestions??
I too was on the plan and lost alot of weight but I have no credit card and need to know how to get the products. Also is Kashi bars just as good as the LA bars and how many do you eat per day?
Hi….I too, was on this LA program and I liked it…it worked for me…I didn’t like spending all the money for the bars….so I went out and researched for a bar that was comprable to LA bar…I took it back to the center and let my counselor compare it…she didn’t want to say…but slightly looke around then said…”yes…these are basically the same…it’s a good bar to use…it basically had the exact same nutrious facts as their did…I purposely searched for that….the name of the bars are “Luna” and they taste great…and they work with the program quite well. This was about 6yrs ago and you know how things change…however I still use luna bars to help with my weight
I have done the program and it works. HOWEVER, just like Ollie, I also paid upfront more than $1200 dollars as well as week to week purchases of their biscotti’s, drinks mixes, etc. They closed their doors and left the area!!! I have tried the on=line counseling and it doesn’t work. All I want…is my cases of bars that paid 1 yr maintenance fee for
Stephanie,
I have been on the plan twice and lost weight. I need the purple book!! I am going nuts trying to find it online. DO you have it?
thanks Amanda and Kathy. Zone and Kashi bars taste great. I joined Tops, and will be using these bars. The meeting I go to is small, personable. this lady was so pushie about the bars $15 a box!!!!!! I see I can order the juice on line or I’ll find it a yard sale! thanks Bella
I also joined and lost 50 pounds and they shut there doors and I also lost a thousand dollars.Thank you LA Weight loss. I also gained my weight back but will never pay for anything in advance again. Be careful…
Does anyone have a list of the recommended prepackaged frozen meals you could eat on the program once and a while and the exchanges for them? what about the common foods to order out and those exchanges, too? Thanks!
I was on LAWL year ago…before the detox juice drink was around so instead, they had you eat two oranges each day of the 3-day kick-start. So consider that a cheaper alternative to the juice.
Well Friday was my 4th day and i was down 6lb….AWESOME.. @ Bella,,I talked online on the La to your door website and told the lady i wasnt interested in the bars at this time and she said that is fine,The bars are where they make the money so they try to push them..I been buying the Kashi bars they are delicious and only about $3.50 for a box..Why don’t you check out the website and you can ask questions your concerned about, they were helpful to me. : )
My mom did this plan years ago. I followed with her & used Zone Perfect bars as LA Light replacements. They taste a lot better (IMHO) and are definitely cheaper. (about a $1 a piece or $5-6 a box)
I wanted to join last week L A, BUT she insisted I needed the bars. I told her I didn’t like the fact that the bars had hydrogenated fat and corn syrup in them, other then that I would have joined. The leader had no idea what I was talking about. She knew the diet, but not nutrition. Is there a place I can join with out buying the bars??????
Today i weighed myself after on the 2day take-off juice and i lost exactly 5 lb.. That is awesome,so today my regular plan starts..
Hi, I just started LA to your door 2 days ago,Mon and Tues are my take off days, that is where you drink the juice to (detox) cleanse yourself for 2days with unlimited proteins..beef-chicken–fish–seafood can have skin but no breading..unlimited GREEN vegetables fresh or frozen only.8-8ounce glass water,up to 2cans diet soda, coffee or tea 2 cups,oil/vinegar,lite salad dressings, butter, margarine, oil for cooking,up to 3 packets of artificial sweetner, any seasoning that is SALT-FREE.. and must have 2eggs both days..the 3rd day your program begins ,,then my plan is 3 protein-2 starch- 2 vegetable-2 fruit-1 fat- 1 dairy- 2 bars a day.. I will be using the Kashi protein bars in place of the LA Lite bars because they are similiar and so much cheaper, Hope i helped a few people out there with this Info..I will keep posted on my outcome.. I done LA Weight few times and yes it works, but you gotta be willing to change your eating habits, take it from one who knows..lol
Hello,
I was on the plan back in 2007 and I also went to work for the company. I actually did really well on the plan and lost about 50 lbs. It seems like the only weight loss plan that has worked for me. I since have gained the 50lbs plus back. I wanted to see if anyone out there has any of the diaries that have the amounts that your suppose to eat and the food listing also…
Thanks hope to hear something soon.
Jill
I did LAWL a few years back & did great until coming off of it. Still have my blue & Gold diet plans & have thought many times about restarting on my own, but not sure about what the food exchanges would be in lieu of the LA bars or what may be the same in the stores that could be used. Can anyone help? Stephanie, see you use to work there can you assist?
Linda we cab encourage each other to stay on plan.
Hi Ruth – I just found a lot of my old LA Plan stuff and have the Gold and Purple plan menus. I know the different plans are based on how much you weigh, but I don’t have anything that differentiates between the purple and gold. I have just started this up again. Am new to this blogging but would be more than willing to share the menus if you tell me how.
this made me sooooooooo fat!!
Stephanie I would love to have a copy of the plan, I am just getting started again and just ordered my LA Lytes and juice I am doing this on my own and not buying the who diet plan
Does anyone have the plans and portion sizes based on your weight. I remember the portion sizes was based on your weight. Also, what does the detox consist of.
I have the LAWL plans from 5 years ago when I worked there…. email me and let me know what you need. I will do my best to help – as I am doing it again, too! Good luck everyone!
It was a three day detox – you had to eat 2 eggs every morning, all the lean protein and non-starch veggies you wanted, minimal fat free dressings, and no salt spices could be used. After the three days you went to a meal plan based on portion size based upon weight loss goal.
I have a question. I was on LA Weight Loss several years ago and in the beginning they did a “detox.” I remember I had to eat 2 oranges a day. Can anybody help me out with what else it included? I know there were no carbs for so many days. This really helped me out and I need to get back on track. Thank you.
I TOO WAS ON LA WT. LOSS PROGRAM, THE COMPANY CLOSED DOWN OWING ME A CASE OF THE BARS AND SHAKES..I ONLY WISH THEY STYED OPEN CAUSE THE 3X A WK WAS GOOD..THE SUPPORT IS WHAT HELPS..I’M HAPPY TO SEE THAT YOU CAN BUY THE PRODUCTS ONLINE..ONLY HOPE THEY TASTE THE SAME..(AND THEY DELIVER THE PRODUCT)I HATE WHEN PEOPLE STEAL YOUR MONEY….SAD
