LA Weight Loss

Background

LA Weight Loss used to be a center-based weight loss program with over 650 centers worldwide.

Over recent years LA Weight Loss clinics have been closing down, and the franchise company closed down at the beginning of 2010. There are now just a few centers located in North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Canada. LA Weight Loss is transitioning from a center based program into one that is totally online based.

The LA Weight Loss clinics attracted some controversy. This was often due to the significant costs involved with the program and the hard selling practices of some sales staff. However, with the new online LA Weight Loss program, dieters have access to LA’s effective plans but with less cost involved.

Most of the LA Weight Loss products are available from their new website and they are trying to restore their reputation after they received such bad press as the result of many people losing money when the centers closed.

LA Weight Loss Rapid Results Diet

LA Weight Loss Rapid Results uses the Transmetabolic Factor which is supposed to help the body to continuously burn calories throughout the day, boost energy, and help control appetite for maximum weight loss. They believe it’s the key to permanent weight loss primarily because it works with the body, not against it.

The New LA Weight Loss Diet consists of 5 steps.

Step 1 is The 2-Day KickStart Plan featuring LA Weight Loss TakeOFF™ Juice.
This step is to be completed for the first 2 days and then every 14 days of the program. This is similar to detox and is supposed to prepare the body for weight loss.

Step 2 consists of The LA Rapid Results Diet System.
Dieters are to use The Rapid Results Diet System until they lose 20 pounds or reach their goal weight. Dieters use the LA Rapid Results Food Guide to plan meals and it consists of nine main categories: Proteins, Vegetables, Fruits, Starches, LA Lites Bars, Dairy, Fats, Beverages and Extras. Each day dieters are to consume a specific number of servings allotted based on individual needs.

Step 3 is the transitional phase using LA My Way Food Guide until goal weight is reached.
This stage is started after 20 pounds are lost and continues until the dieter reaches their goal weight. It is designed to transition dieters into eating a wider variety of foods while still controlling calories.

Step 4 is to use two LA Lites™ Bars every day throughout the program.
LA Lite bars are designed to help with cravings and control in between meal hunger.

Step 5 is to use the LA SmartTrim Nutritionals™ along with the diet program daily.
This is a supplement line designed by LA to supply dieters’ bodies with the vitamins and minerals that support weight loss.

Exercise

LA Weight Loss recommends that dieters exercise at least 3 times a week to achieve maximum results on the Rapid Results Program.

LA Weight Loss Costs

The LA Complete Success System, which includes all products and guides as well as online support, costs $289.99 a month if automatic rebilling is selected or $419.99 if one month is purchased at a time.

All products and program parts are available separately and vary in price.

Conclusions

LA Weight Loss has worked for many people and people keep coming back to them as the program is straight forward and easy to follow. However, this program relies heavily on the use of prepackaged processed food, special juices, and supplements. While people may indeed lose weight using the LA Weight Loss Rapid results program, it isn’t exactly teaching dieters how to eat healthy and get the vital nutrients they need from fresh whole foods.

For dieters who aren’t concerned about eating processed food then LA Weight Loss could be a good option, but for those that want to lose weight in a healthier way, then there are certainly cheaper and better diet plans available.

Hi everyone. i have received my la weigt loss plan from ebay last year. i was doing it on and off throughout the summer but then didn’t see any results as i did when i did LAWL in 2005. i’m sure it is becuase i am getting older. since doing the plan i had another child so i am wanting to get started back up. i was not interested in doing the bars – i did the luna bars last year but found that it wasn’t helping in the weight loss. wasn’t sure what plan to start up on. want to lose 65lbs. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. like i said they are the old plans like i did in 2005 so hopefully they will still be as effective. Thank you

Does anyone know if la still sells an la lite bar that tastes similar to a snickers? I used to buy those when I was on the plan some years ago but have not been able to find it now that I’m restarting then plan on my own. They were delicious and I believe they were chocolate covered with a type of nougat inside.

OK every one when you find the website look at the very top of the page to the right it says chat online, the well be areal person chatting with you,you can even ask for the 1877 # they have so you can call BUT it’s a good idea to go first at the very very bottom of the page to the left, under QUICK links you’ll find nutritional facts they are helpful for allergy reasons, and to compare with other bars

oh,sorry We are not allowed to write the website ,but you can Google la weight loss to your door,or la weight loss rapid results because they deliver your order, but I did a one time order, she even asked me if i want to buy the program only (I guess because they don’t normally deliver to Canada) and I HAD SOY ALLERGY so i didn’t have to by the expensive bars they told me a cup of (f.f.milk) will be in the place for 2 bars, these bars have milk, soy ,and peanuts so if you have allergy your in luck..
oh, I’M 5.4″ and 195 lb so I HAD TO BE ON PLAN #3( 3VEG,1FAT,2STARCH,1dairy(but add another for the bars),2FRUIT AND 3 PROT, 3 EXTRAS..CUCUMBER,TOMATO’S SPINACH AND THE SOME
Condm., I did ask about my favorite 100 cal snacks they told me any 100 cal snack = 1 starch
oh, when they send me my diary and the meal plan accidentally they sent plan#2 (if you are180lb or less)the same as#3 but 2 veg good luck.

For all off you trying to get back to the program but dont wish to pay big$ you can go to their web site, tell them you want to join ,BUT YOU have soy allergy, so you dont have to comet to the bars, it, much easier they’ll ask you to buy the juice i think after 2 weeks ,or tell them that a friend bought some for you to motivate you before ,you con get Hollywood drinks instead I paid $74 only it was on sale other wise it’s 90 something that is all, good luck

I was on the L.A. Quick Weight Loss Diet over 20 years ago when there were only the pink (weight loss) and blue (maintenance) sheets! I lost over 30 lbs. but over the years have gained it all back. I remember what you had to eat the first two days of the diet (and periodically thereafter when you plateaued) but can only remember bits and piece of what you were allowed to eat and how much. Wish I could get this information on line without having to pay $$ for it again! How I wish I still had those pink and blue sheets.

I will bring the color plans with me to work tomorrow and scan them into my computer. If you leave your email address (if your comfortable with that) and I will send the color you want. They are the old school ones, so I don’t have any new programs. These are from around 2002-2004 plans. You can the LA Express plan (1st 2 days) on 3 fat chicks website and the takeoff juice and bars on ebay or LA Weightloss site. If your not going to do the bars you go up a color plan. The order was green (last 10lbs), gold, purple, red (athlete or nursing), red plus (severly over weight), blue (shift worker or 65+ age), orange (young adult). I believe I also have the chart that tells you what plan you should be based on your weight but I will check tonight.

Hi I was wondering if the rapid results plan is as effective as the old plan. I am restarting the plan and notice a few differences in the new plan. Also is it still acceptable to choose fast food options in the rapid results (beginning ) of the plan?

I would love to get the meal planner again…my husband and I were on the gold and red programs and were entering the phase where you learn to keep it off when the centers closed. We had both reached our weight loss goals. Now we are exercising intensely on a daily basis and he has lost over 20 lbs of what he gained back, me, 3. I know it’s our diet. Cassie, I would love to get the meal plans again…tyia

I both did the LA Weightloss program as well as worked for the company. I was lucky to also do one of their commercials. I love this program and miss having them in my town. I went from 190lbs to 119lbs (size 16 to size 2) in 8 months. I kept every program color they had and would like to answer any questions. I still to this day buy the LA Lites on ebay (way cheaper). I have tried Luna bars as a replacement but they are nowhere near as tasty. I created a weekly diary on Microsoft Word that looks like the one the centers gave you and try to live my life by the program. I have also had more children and have used the program to drop the baby weight. Good Luck to everyone :)

Luna bars are comparable and taste just as good. They sell them at Walmart.

Hi, I did LA before the centres closed and am getting back into it. I was wondering if anyone has the “LA Rapid Results Food Guide”? I have the “maintaining for Life Food Guide” and the blue “Balance Menue Plan Kit” but would like to start with the “Rapid Results”.

A friend and I did LA several years ago and had really good results. As a matter of fact it is about the only thing that works for me. I was wondering if anyone has found a bar on the market that comes close to the LA bars? I can’t remember the nutritional facts. If anyone has the bars and can give them to me I would appreciate it.

Alberta, I would LOVE some info on the gold plan. I too was on the gold plan a few years ago and slowly went off of it after the centers closed (and snatched my money). I know how many proteins and such to eat but I don’t remember what the portion sizes are or the list of fats and stuff. If you could help me out with it, I would be greatly appreciative!

I did LA Weight Loss 8 years ago and lost 40 lbs. in 3 months. I felt great! This was after the birth of my first child, I’ve since had two more kids and I am 12 lbs. heavier than when I started LA Weight loss before. I remember being on the Gold Plan and the Red. The consultants switched my plan ut, I can’t remember which one to begin with.

I went on the LA weight loss diet 4 years ago and lost 20 pounds. I want to go back on it, in fact I am trying to remember how it went. I wish I had kept my gold book. Dang. We are allowed carrots, correct?
Does anyone know how to get ahold of one of the gold plan guides?

Alberta, I was curious to see if the basic meal plan in the gold book consist of the selection intake that’s listed above? I wasn’t able to find this guide. All I have is the moderation stabilization book.(Purple) Thanks for your assistance.

I too did LAWL and loved the results. I am getting ready to start back up on my own. Like some of you ladies 50# to go after having 2 surgeries and 2 more babies. You can get a juice very similar to Take Off at many pharmacies, it’s the Hollywood 24 hour diet. It is significantly cheaper and has the same results.

Well I love the program but I hate the company. Extremely poor customer service. I purchased a case of take off juice during a promotion. Got to use 4 out of the 12 bottles before they expired. No exchanges, no refunds and when I requested contact from the company – no response at all. This company is out for your money (once they have it you are just anouther number). Buyer beware. I continue with the program because I prepaid in full and there are no refunds but I will not purchase any of their products and would be careful what you sign up for.
