Diabetic Diet

Diabetic Diet on-line program

Diabetes Mellitus is a condition where the body is unable to process glucose (a form of sugar).

The most prevalent form of Diabetes is Type II Diabetes which occurs mainly in adults. You are at risk from this form of diabetes if you have a generic predisposition to it (i.e. it’s in your family history), if you are overweight, and/or are aged over 40. In Type II Diabetes, the pancreas still creates insulin, but not enough, – or the insulin does not function correctly (insulin resistance). This form of Diabetes can be managed (to some degree) with the right diet and exercise, but also with diabetes pills and insulin.

Diet Plan for the Diabetic

A healthy eating plan for a Diabetic person is a traditional low fat diet. This diet would have a ration of 25-30% fats, 50-55% carbs, and 20% protein. This is the kind of diet that most governmental authorities recommend. Some people have been able to reverse diabetes by making lifestyle and dietary changes.

Diabetic Guidelines

  • Drink plenty of water (to aid in kidney function).
  • Aim for slow but sustainable weight loss.
  • Eat little and often – this helps keep blood sugar levels even.
  • Don’t eat less than 25% fats, as essential fats will help to slow down absorption of the meal.
  • Try to eat plenty of fresh fruits, salads, and vegetables.

I have been typ2 for 4 yrs. 59 yrs. old. Mainly controled w/ metformin, diet & exercise. Six months ago had an angina episope and my bs went thru the roof. A1C 12.6
Sinse have been taking 30 units insulin before bed & 30 units before meals. Last month A1C was 6.0.
I’ve been putting on weight regardless of diet.
Two wks. ago read Dr. Gabriel Cousins “30 Day Diabetes
Cure”. I added lrg. amounts of raw foods to my diet.
I stopped insulin in 4 days. Lost 8lbs. in a week.
BS is slightly higher than with insulin. Endo. says it will come down as I lose weight.
Two Wks. and all is well. I check my BS 8 times a day.
May not be for everyone you need to be very devoted to this course of management.
Now I have to believe that diet is the answer to this diabetic epidemic. Unfortunatly adding large doses powerful hormones is the conventional treatment.
Check out Gabriel Cousins if your interesed.

May not be route for everyone

I was just diagnosed as type II. The main things to avoid are – white bread, sugary sweets, corn, anything high in saturated fat. The only fruits to watch are watermelon, bananas and pineapple. You can eat these, but only in moderation as they have a very high glycemic index. All other fruits are encouraged often, most all vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, moderate portions of sweets – 1/2 cup ice cream, non-fat or low-fat dairy. Some diabetic “super foods” are green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, beans, salmon, whole grain breads. Stay away from most processed foods – cooking for yourself is the key. And you can have good fats – olive, olive oil, smart balance, canola oil, plus seasoning like garlic, onions, peppers are encouraged, so you can have flavor too!

I am 52 and I was told I have diabetes. I was told to stay away from white bread, potatoes, spaghetti, and no red meat. I was told to eat fiber like beans, vegetables, fruits but no grapes or bananas because they have to much natural sugar. To drink water. The Doctor wanted to put me on pills, but I said give me a chance to work on my diet first, and he gave me till September 27(3 months). He also told me I need to burn energy and to walk about 30 minutes a day. I plan to get a exercise. I plan to become a vegetarian.
