Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Apple Cider Vinegar is a tonic made by fermenting the juice of an apple. The apple is crushed, and the juice is squeezed out. The fermentation process occurs when yeast and sugar are added to the juice. A second process involves adding certain bacteria’s to the juice which will then form an acetic acid.

Folk Remedy

Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for many hundreds of years as a health tonic. Purveyors of the tonic claim that it will cure migraine headaches, diabetes, chronic fatigue, arthritis, high blood pressure and many other ailments.

There are a large number of health food manufacturers who tout this vinegar as a “miracle” healer. The sad truth is that there is very little evidence to prove any of these anecdotal claims. A nutritional breakdown of Apple Cider Vinegar shows that it is actually quite “bland” – rather than being the nutritional “storehouse” that marketers claim.

Apple Cider for Weight Loss

apple-cider-vinegar-dietIn the 1950s a country doctor in Vermont (Dr. D. C. Jarvis) wrote a book (Folk Medicine) that set the stage for Apple Cider Vinegar as a weight loss agent. He claimed that regular consumption of the tonic would cause fat to be burned rather than stored. Others claim that the pectin in the vinegar will bind cholesterol and remove it from the body.

However it is all conjecture – this supplement is harmless but is unlikely to offer many health benefits – and will absolutely not cause weight loss.

What people call the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet is simply the act of consuming 1-3 teaspoons tonic before each meal in the hope of losing weight. There is very little (if any) evidence proving that this is effective.

My grandmother swore by Vermont tonic (apple cider vinegar and honey). I started taking it to see if it really repelled mosquitos, and it does! I haven’t been bitten in years!

ACV surprised me, my daughter was taken it not for weigh loss for other illments.she said how it relaxed your body she was able to sleep restfully all night, and how she felt good in her body, even tho i knew about ACV before, she gave me one of her bottles, which when she fond them she racked up on them BI LO was the only place she could find it.It’s also in vitamin shoppes any whole food or organgic, herb store;ACV “BRAGGS” organgic Mother’s on the bottle, other kind they are too strong and take the enamel off and weakens the teeth.oh! but i took it for a few days ,yes i felt better in my body right away, but i was looking for weight change, at the time didn’t see it,I got distracted and wasn’t taking it for about aweek, but i feel thinner and my clothes were lose. So, just 2 days ago i got on the scale and to my surprise, something I thought I would never see the numbers on the scale has moved,I losted a total of 9 pds.so now,I’m back with it,and it is true even when I stopped, I didn’t gain that back.Trust God and give it a try, for just a few dollars and pure water eat what you want(healthy eating as much as you want.

Andrea, I’m pretty sure this has already been explained several times in previous comments. It’s apple cider vinegar which is brown and you want to look for one that’s organic and the cloudier the better.

i’ve been using Braggs apple cider vinegar for 1 1/2 months and i’ve lost 10 lbs no diet nor excercise. I went from a 165 to a 155 i’m 5’6 i was actually using it for ph balance which is defenetly making a difference on that too. taste wise for me it taste like beer or like taking a shot without the burning part..? How i use it before breakfast and dinner i drink 10 ml (2tsp) of ACV as a shot and down it with a glass of water, of drink water throught out the day to flush stuff out and not be dehydreated.

I tried apple cider vinegar because I was having trouble with a small nagging pain in the small of my back when I went to bed at night. I had been suffering with it for weeks. I took the apple cider vinegar at supper time with honey and warm water and amazingly that night, I experienced no pain. I tried to continue to take it once a day at suppper time for my knees but after a couple of weeks, I could not stand the smell of it any longer. I had to hold my breath to take it and ended up gagging anyway. It also got to the point that when I went to pee, I couldn’t stand the smell of the acv. If you are going to try it, it is recommended that you use all natural with a mother on it. Don’t know about the weight loss, it didn’t do anything for me but as I said I only used it once a day.

all of these reviews slam apple vinegar. but the truth is they want to sell you products that are more expensive. even if it works they have a bias against cheap natural cures

oh, and to add another thing i read about this earlier, is that people are saying once its off it stays off…thing about fat cells is that your born with a certain number of fat cells. those cells never go away, they just shrink or grow. so unless you get lypo you will never lose any fat cells.

i agree completely with mike, theres no such thing as a miracle diet, but more of a lifestyle change. quit the soda, chips and other bs. eat fresh and lean and in moderation, all day. people think because you eat alot during the day means youll get fat but it increases your matabolism. im trying this vinegar diet starting tomorrow just to see what its all about. almost in it for joint pain and other things, im 25 and dont really need to lose weight, but i do want to shred some fat since i lift alot.

It works…Ive been drinkin 2 tbs with honey and cold/warm water 3 times a day. It curbs my appetite. The most I have lost is 14 lbs in 2.5 weeks . That does not sound like a fad diet to me. And the weight stays off. If u dun like honey use apple juice.

hello..i just want to add my 2 cents worth here..i have no idea if this actually helps or not..but it certainly won’t hurt you..just remember dieting is the main cause of people gaining weight..if you don’t take in enough calories..then your body goes into survial mode..on the other hand if your taking in the wrong type of calories you’ll gain weight that way as well..eat mainly fresh foods and drink mainly water, green tea and on occasion fruit juice of your choice…stay away from fast food or packaged food..its disatorious for anyone and always stay active..will you be a super model..prolly not..but you’ll be healthy and at a healthy weight..but just remember..you must eat in order to survive and be healthy..its best to eat 6-8 small meals of around 150-300 calories per meal..rather than eating 3 times a day or even worse just once a day..make healthy choices and excercise and you’ll be on your way to a new way of life..its not a diet..its what you should do at all times
