Amen Solution: Brain Based Diet

 By Mizpah Matus B.Hlth.Sc(Hons)

amen solution dietThe Amen Solution is a brain-based diet that can help you to lose weight as well as improve your mood and enhance your memory.

It was created by Dr. Daniel Amen, bestselling author and brain expert, who offers the same program to patients at his Amen Clinics, where he has helped thousands of people to achieved their weight loss and health goals.

Amen says his ten-week program offers a different approach to losing weight that uses your brain, in contrast to traditional methods of dieting that are generally not very effective. He explains that many weight problems actually begin in the brain instead of the stomach.

The Amen Solution includes practical strategies to help you understand the way your mind works so that you can lose weight forever.

Amen Diet Basics

Initially you will identify your brain type from a selection of five different brain patterns. This is an essential factor for lasting weight loss because not everyone needs to take the same approach. When you understand how your brain works you will gain a greater knowledge of what drives your eating behaviors, which gives you a better chance of achieving your weight loss goals.

Following the food and eating style that works best for you will allow you to improve your concentration, memory and mood, while at the same time assisting you to lose weight. You will learn the keys to overcoming cravings and emotional eating and how to maintain a high level of motivation.

Dr. Amen provides dieters with “Seven Rules for Brain Healthy Eating”. Food journaling is also an important part of the program and can increase the awareness of what you are putting into your body.

Nutritional supplements are recommended because they can enhance weight control, mood, focus and memory. Certain supplements are advised for almost everyone and others are explored for their potential use for specific health issues.

The Amen Solution includes a selection of brain healthy recipes and menu suggestions for better choices in fast food restaurants. There are also lists of the Fifty Best Brain Healthy Foods, Good Mood Foods and Get Smart Foods.

      Dear Barbara,

I jotted down the Daniel Amen Diet after hearing about it on a show last weekend.

A search led me to this page, and your story touched my heart. I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY. If you are in my neck of the woods, I would like to offer to drive you to the store(s), and give you some companionship.

In the meanwhile, I want to you to say (several times a day) with total conviction, “I am a part of the Divine, and the Divine spark in me will make me whole. My cancer, diabetes and all my ailments are cured. YOU have to believe this to your core, for this to work.”

Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God is within you.”

If you wish to contact me, you may do so, at

      God Bless.

I purchased his bundle after I gained 30 lbs from anti-depression meds and watched his video on PBS. I unfortunately suffer from chronic depression but you would never notice it on the outside. It is deep within. I am doing this regime and lost 10 pounds without even trying or focusing on the weight results that come from eating healthy. It truly is amazing; yet, simple really. One can merely look at the regime and see how, when combined properly, foods impact our body and minds. Quality body fuel matters! Quality food is less expensive when you reduce your weight, improve your energy, and begin to live a purposeful life. Enjoy your day!

Which book should I get to understand the diet with simple knowledge. I purchased one book and you had to have a PHD to understand it.

He has so many books that I have purchased and still don’t get the diet. Which one should I purchase with simple rules and sample diets?

OMG! This book is the best one I have ever read and have read from cover to cover. The most integral part is getting the Amen Cook book which is my next goal…I have suffered from anxiety and depression for a long time and being a nurse and dealing with head injury cases etc. his book is right on point, I could never lose the weight and could not stay motivated and this book alone has helped me to self-motivate myself, get on Welbutrin and I started @ 172 lbs. and then I lost ten lbs. walking and keeping my pedometer on all times to make each goal 10,000 steps I went to 162 lbs and now I am @ 154 lbs, this is what i do…I have coffee in the morning which is not per his recommendation as i use splenda with 1 gm fiber then for breakfast i have a get right smoothee with Almond Milk or a fruit smoothee and continue to work out…snack is fruit and nuts @ 10 if desired and @ 12 noon I may have a healthy sandwich with lots of vegies, dinner i have soup e.g. as Minestrone or some healthy homemade soup and i have a spinach salad on the side, raw vegies e.g sliced cucumbers. It is all in making a great healthy salad as your main course.
