Acai Berry Diet
Background
Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is the berry of an Amazonian palm tree with a long history of traditional usage in Brazil.
After Dr. Perricone highlighted the berry as the number one antioxidant food on the Oprah show and Oprah herself mentioned that she has incorporated the berry into her diet, there has been an explosion in the popularity of acai berry based weight loss plans.
Some websites are promoting the acai berry diet as Oprah’s new diet plan however this is basically a marketing tool used to attract more attention to acai berry supplements and is not related to any particular diet plan.
Diet Basics
There isn’t a specific acai berry diet but rather dieters use acai berry in conjunction any other weight loss plan they prefer to follow. It is often paired with a colon cleansing product or with other nutritional ingredients that are said to enhance weight loss.
The acai berry is promoted primarily for its antioxidant effects, which exceed that of other foods that are high in antioxidants such as blueberries and red wine. Advocates of the acai berry diet claim that these antioxidants will enhance general well-being and vitality which will support weight loss.
Acai berries are also said to have many other benefits that include improving digestion, cleansing and detoxifying the body, boosting immunity, supporting cardiovascular health, increasing mental clarity, enhancing vision, reducing insomnia, and slowing down the aging process. Not all of these claims can be supported by scientific research and much of these possible benefits are speculations at this stage.
In regard to the effects of acai berry on weight loss; promoters of the diet say that the berry has a combination of essential fatty acids, amino acids and phytosterols that work in unison to improve metabolism, enhance digestion, and reduce appetite.

Costs and Expenses
Acai berry supplements are available as capsules, powder, puree or juice. The cost ranges from around $40-80 per month depending on the dosage taken.

- High antioxidants can reduce the risk of diseases commonly associated with aging such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
- Antioxidants are beneficial for dieters who are physically active as they neutralize the free radicals that are produced during exercise.

- There are many reports of scams with websites selling inferior products and billing customers for ‘free trials’ of acai berry products.
- Claims made for weight loss effects of the berries are unsubstantiated.
- Does not encourage dieters to make lifestyle changes.
- Supports the idea of a quick fix approach to weight loss.

Conclusions
The acai berry does have some important nutritional benefits, however by consuming a range of fresh fruit and vegetables and other foods that are high in antioxidants, it is possible to reproduce a similar enhancement of the dietary intake.
If dieters experience weight loss on the acai berry diet it will be due to the effects of simultaneously following a calorie restricted diet rather than due to any special effects of the acai berry. Acai berry supplements may support general health and well being while dieting such juices in the market like monavie can do that, but cannot be relied on as the sole factor for successful weight loss.
If you decide to try acai berries it is recommended to find a high quality reputable source and to view it as an addition to your weight loss program rather than the main focus of the plan.

I do not even know which company I ordered the free trial from some guys in UK. They have been taking money out of my account 2mths in a row. One for $139 and one for $135. So much for a free trial !! They have sent no products except for the ‘free tial’ I think it is really shameful the way people are being treated. Does anyone have the E-mail address of PO. if you are getting charges to card…report the card stolen and have it cancelled and replaced. a new number will stop the charges
Does Acai berry’s actually work? I was considering buying them from my local holland and barrett but i want to know if they actually work first and how much weight you normaly loss in the first month. When taking Acai berries what do you eat?
I wouldn’t suggest buying online – it is best to go to your local health / vitamin store or contact a naturopath (they should have good industry suppliers which will be high quality). Miranda Kerr (Victoria’s Secret Angel) swears by this diet (along with yoga of course!) – good luck with your dieting and love yourself

This is good for the first few days. i lost 5lbs in 3 days, but after that its not good and you put the weight back on again.

I do believe some are scam. In Sept. I order a free simple and 2 weeks later I had not received anything. I called them and this lady said that she was going to send it again, and to call back by the end of the month. I did and got not a very good impression of the costumer service I received: THEY LEFT ME HANGING ON THE PHONE FOR MORE THAN A HOUR, AND ON TOP I was listening to everything they were saying, this guy and a girl. But I told her when I first had talk to her before to cancel any further order on my card. So I did get my trial offer, but never payed a dime. Any ways, I would like to ad and advise people out there that I had some side affects from it, wish disturbed me a bit. Like High blood pressure, sweats, dizziness and besides others. It wasn’t until I went the doctor that I realize it.

I have had the same problems being the silly person i am… this stuff is just as bad as the nigerians with the “give me money and ill give you a million dollars” scam. I ordered both Acai Berry and Colon Cleanse EACH for my friend and i to try – it was free postage for the free trial. Not even 15 days after ordering this product (let alone receiving it) I was charged $115.17 PER BOTTLE! Although it was advised on the webpage (which i now cannot locate as it “takes too long to respond”)a charge of 19 pounds would be charged to my credit card per bottle – I dont know if my math is correct but im sure this is not right!
Unfortunately cancelling these orders did slip my mind an today i received another package in the mail with one of the two bottles. Which i take responsibility for, but have just rang and cancelled – It was good as i was only on hold for 5 minutes and talking to the lady for two.
She advised me both orders have been cancelled. Does this mean i get a refund or do i just have to wear these ridiculous costs?

I can’t believe so many people are not serious about getting the weight off. Acai is a magnificent tool, (note tool), for getting weight off quickly. Maintaining the lower weight is a lifestyle change requirement. Personally I get a free trial every 3 months just as I service my car regularly. Remember, when you put the weight back on, its mostly fat!
I saw the reveiw from the channel 7 lady and decided to give acai berry and colon clense together a try. But right under her reveiw was the price which was 1 something down and some money a month also for each product. So I went to my local GNC store because I didnt feel like I should have to spend large amounts of money to loose weight. So I picked up an acai berry dietary supplment and a colon cleanser and have been taking it for a week now. I lost four pounds! I stomach is very trimmed, I can fit into my size 5 jeans again, I have plenty of energy and my appetite is gone. Sometimes I have to make myself eat because I dont think about food as much anymore. I have just cancelled my order with the company as i was still in the 15 day trial period, but i still dont trust them not to just keep on taking my money so i have cancelled my bank card. My bank also gave me a number for their fraud team and advised me to phone them tomorrow to investigate it further. My advice to anyone is not to bother in the first place and to cancel your bank card! I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this is enough and that the crafty sods don’t still find a way to get at my money. Think i am gonna be having a few sleepless nights over the next month or so until i feel like enough time has elapsed and that i am safe from them!!
First of all, NOBODY should be paying $500 for a vitamin. Secondly,DO NOT buy any of it online. Go to GNC, ask for the berries (they are trained and know everything about the suppllements they carry), and pay the $30 for the decent sized bottle. You’re clearly not very interested in getting healthier if you’re not willing to get off the couch.

Casey, this is just a general review of an Acai Berry diet. There are hundreds of companies online selling the acai supplement and most are dodgy, so it would be hard for someone to give you a number.. You are better off buying it from vitaminworld or the likes..

I tried a $30 bottle of the acai berry. I didn’t loose any weight on it. I thought it was a complete waste of money. I’m doing a balanced diet now. Low carb, low fat, just plain eating healthy diet. I’ll start going back to Zumba classes next week and I expect to see weight loss happening! Those of you that spent $500 on the pills, I understand the frustration with trying to loose the weight and getting desparate enough to spend a large amount of money on anything that sounds like it will work! I’m there myself, but I don’t have the money to spend on diet pills that don’t work. That’s why I’m doing the eating plan that I’m doing now. No diet pills for me ever again!
