6 Week Body Makeover

6-day-body-makeoverMichael Thurmond’s 6 Week Body Makeover is a method of losing weight and reshaping the body in a relatively short period of time. The 6 week body makeover was developed over a number of years by fitness expert Michael Thurmond, a member of the ‘Extreme Team’ on the Extreme Makeover television series.

The 6 week body makeover is not a diet involving special meals, drinks or pills. Rather it is a customized process of learning your own reaction to particular foods, then combining them in your diet so that your unique metabolism burns more fat. This together with the exercise program which is part of the purchased package, is claimed to ‘make over’ the body to achieve the desired result in 6 weeks.

The package comprises a kit which includes a starting-up video, a body ‘blueprinting’ Kit, exercise bands & training video, custom eating & body shaping plans, a guide for dining out, a ‘Living Lean’ program & audio cassette, a recipe guide/menu planner, and possibly a bonus 6 Day Mini Makeover (see below). It is sold via an infomercial format and is priced at more than $170.

The 6 Week Body Makeover Plan

The 6 week body makeover has these main components:

  • Identify your type of metabolism by filling out a questionnaire, and reprogram it for maximum fat burning.
  • Eat those foods that work with your particular metabolism to lose weight rapidly, despite eating more of the foods that
cause weight-loss while reducing foods that cause you weight-gain.
  • Determine your body type, its unique problem areas, and your ultimate goal, in order to exercise less (18 minutes twice a week is quoted) and reshape your body in as little as 6 weeks, losing up to 30 pounds in that time.
  • Learn how to keep excess weight off after the makeover is complete.

The 6 Week Body Make over program (6WBMO) provides you with an eating plan for each meal, tailored for your metabolism, such that you will lose up to 30 pounds in 6 weeks. It details how to use the right foods, combinations, and amounts at the right time of day to force your metabolism to run faster, burning more of the food you feed it as fuel and storing less as fat, thus automatically losing body weight.

Anyone taking medication or with special medical conditions should consult a physician or health care specialist before undertaking this aggressive weight loss plan. There is dietary advice in the plan for participants who suffer from hypoglycemia, high or low blood pressure, or food allergies.

There are many testimonials of success in varying degrees with this plan. Some sample comments:

  • with time, you don’t miss the salt.
  • I found I acquired a taste for the fruits/ veggies.
  • there is no dairy and lots of healthy foods & water.
  • This isn’t the plan for you if you just want “another diet”. This is a life changing thing & it is for the serious
    people.
  • In the 1st 6 wks I lost 30+ lbs. The 1st wk was the hardest, because the plan is so strict.
  • I am on my 17th week and I have lost 68.5 lbs.
  • Yes it takes time to prepare your food for the week … I cook the week’s meals on Sundays.
  • I buy frozen chicken strips.. they are usually the right size for the meal.. I also buy frozen veggies.. I spend no
time at all in the kitchen.
  • I am in my sixth day and I have lost 8.5 lb.
  • I started the 6WBMO almost 5 weeks ago … I have lost 17 pounds.

The 6 Week Body Makeover is undoubtedly a program that works for many who stick to the regimen. Others feel that it is over-priced for the information that is offered.

The 6 Day Body Makeover

The much more rigorous 6 day mini makeover or ‘mini makeover’ has been developed from the basic 6 week body makeover outlined above. This accelerated weight loss plan is designed to drop the body to a smaller clothing size in 6 days, so it is suitable as a crash project for a special occasion, but is NOT recommended for use on a regular basis. The 6 day body makeover involves 5-6 small meals per day, and 45-60 minutes daily of ‘long, slow distance exercises’ (walking, slow jogging, treadmill, or stationary bike), which it is claimed shifts the body into fat-burning mode.

Much planning and preparation is required, but menus and serving sizes are all mapped out, and recipes are provided. A lot of fish and poultry are on the menu and are including in mid-morning and afternoon snacks.

My aunt did this about 4 years ago and lost 50+ pounds in 4 months by just changing following the diet. There is an exercise program that targes your prob. areas but she did not do that part. She has kept off the weight and now I’m thinking I’ll give it a try.

I did the 6 week and lost 27# in just over 6 weeks, but I find it really hard to eat so much food so often, as I am someone who eats nothing all day and then eat supper and snack in the evenings, so I feel over full all day long. Any suggestions?

This program not only works it is the best I have ever seen! It covers EVERYTHING! It would cost thousands of dollars and take a nutritionist, personal trainer and life coach hours and hours of time with you to give you everything in this program. It works if you work it! Anyone who says it does not work did not read all the material or was not committed or was not ready. This is NOT a diet. If is everything you need to change your life and your body and live a healthy for the rest of your life. Being healthy in this world full of garbage being passed as food is HARD! That is the challenge. The good news is with this program all my cravings for salt, sugar and fat dissapeared! I WANTED to walk, I didn’t have to make myself. I slept better. My mood was more stable because my blood sugar was more stable. I could go on and on. I’ll say it again. It works if you do.

I am 19 years old and overweight. I use to be really small. I started highschool as a size 3, 115 lbs and somehow my weight through the last 4 years has increased rapidly i am now 180 lbs. Im ready to lose 55 lbs. I saw the 6WBMO program on tv and was thinking about trying it because exercise isn’t really my thing and it seems like it doesn’t require you to do much. Is there anyone with a similar story that has tried the 6WBMO? Does it work?

I give the 6WBM 5 stars,I did this program after a major relationship breakup in 2007 for 6 months. My starting weight was 240, my ending weight was 184.:) Went from a size 20 to size 8. One MAJOR thing is that I did the strict part of the program for ALL 6 months. The more I did the program the easier it got, I lost my cravings for salt, still now I can’t eat canned soup or other canned foods, they taste exrtremely salty to me. I still don’t drink caffeine ( not even coffee) and I love veggie and fruits now, more than I did before.

I plan on going back to this program because even though I kept the weight off for 3 years, slowly within the last year or so I am back up to 225.00. This is my own fault, too much alcohol, pizza, ice cream, and late night eating.

Even though I loved the partying, and high fat foods, I hate what I have done to my body. I realize now that this is a lifestyle change, and I can still have pizza made in a healthy way.

So this program was WELL worth the money for me.

I tried this years ago and don’t remember the weight part as much as I remember how it gave me SO much energy and umm don’t know how to describe it but made me feel CLEAN inside… nothing to do with bowels or anything but just clean inside, don’t know how else to say it. =) It did take a lot of work, preparations and dedication. But as with anything you have to be committed.

I started this program in 2002. I lost 50 pounds, I can say that this program honestly does work, but you have to be dedicated to it. Since 2002 I have some major life changing events which I began eating again to deal with these events and here I am 100 punds overweight again. So I am committed to starting this program again today. I want to encourage anyone that has experienced falling of the wagon so to speak like I have to get back on it because you are worth the risk. You deserve to be that person you have always dreamed of. Just take the step and order the program or start over as I am. Good Luck to you all!!

Its irritating reading peoples advice when saying you didnt gain all your weight in 6 weeks so your not gonna lose it all in 6 weeks. Not one place in the six week body make over plan does it say your going to lose all your weight problems in the 6 weeks but what it does is transforms your eating habbits for a long time weightloss system. Ive lost 45lbs in just under 5 months with this and it really works. Yes it is restrictive as many have coplained but lets face it were fat because we never restricted ourselves. with diffrent body types come diffrent types of foods your able to eat so when you reach a point where your body is now at a diffrent type you start eating what is recomended for that body type. Alot of people can talk down this system because it is very hard at first but after a while you will get used to it and you will see results maybe not in 6 weeks but in those 6 weeks you reinvent how you eat and exercise. I was going to have the lap band done until I started this diet and im glad I waited because if I still work as hard has I have been I will lose over 100lbs the first year and be that much closer to my goal.

I used the program and lost 45 pounds and kept it off for 2 years then BAM! I developed thyroid problems and dr said may be due to lack of salt in the diet. It worked wonders for me, but stopped working and I gained all the weight back plus 10 extra and I never changed my way of eating, but the program just stopped working. I cannot get a straight answer from anyone on the forums or when I call. All they wills ay is check with your dr.

Hi, I’m Tori. I’m a high schooler, and its sad to say, I need to lose weight. I have never tried any diet plans because they all seemed fake to me, but i heard about the 6WBMO and it sounded like a really really good, and healthy way of losing weight. I do understand that it’s a complete life changer and you have to be strong to do it. My dad is completely on board, but I’m really iffy on having him actually buy it, because I want to work, and also I dont know if they sneak in charges, etc.

    So before I order it:

    I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS:
1)Does this really work, or is this just some gimic?
    2)What are some tips?

    THANKS.

I purchased the program today. I was a size 7/8 when I got married 20 years ago and now I am a size 28. I have a long way to go, but I know that as I lose the weight I will feel better and better. I am not the type to sit and cry over my weight. I get mad at myself, because it was myself who made the bad choices that got me to be this size, but its just that I don’t know how to undo what I have done to my body. I have dieted, taken the prescription diet pills, weight watchers, etc, so I am hoping this will work for me. I turned 39 yesterday, and am determined not to turn 40 as a size 28. I do not expect to be a size 7/8 by the time I’m 40, but I do expect to be a lot healthier and smaller. Hopefully at least in the teens. So as soon as I get my kit, I’m looking forward to trying it. I have already started trying to cut sugary beverages out completely. Mostly I’m trying to drink water. So here goes…..

I was a faithful 6WBMO person 4 years ago. I loved waking up every morning knowing that I succeeded the day before. I felt the best I’ve ever felt in years and dropped 35 lbs.+ which was my initial goal. Then I got stupid and started binging again. At first I didn’t put the weight back because on this program your metabolism keeps burning unwanted fat. BUT it DOES catch up to in the end. If you live this program as your lifestyle, it does work. So here I am 4 years later going back to what I know is a successful health change. My BP is high again, my cholesterol is off the charts, so I AM back. I will write in a few weeks to let you know my comeback story. Thank you and good luck to all. THIS DOES WORK WONDERS if you make it work for you.

3 weeks and goodbye 17 pounds! I was on a very similar eating and exercise program when I used a personal trainer so none of this is a surprise. If you are expecting some magic to poof away your weight this isn’t for you. This is for serious, life-long, people who love themselves enough to lose weight and get healthy the right way!

I am near 70 pounds lost! I am 2 pounds away. I feel so good. Now, all my friends who want to lose wieght are asking me “what are you eating?”

Bread is something I no longer crave. My blood pressure is down to 111 over 60. I can fit into a size 11/12, that’s down from a very tight size 18.

I would like to lose 20 or 25 more pounds. I know I can do it on this program.

Todays Monday May 16 and I’ve lost 6 lbs since May 8th. I know its going to come off slower because the first 10 lb is water weight. But it makes me happy to see the scale move. Its motivation to keep it up.
I have the 6 day makeover book which is a lot less then the 6 week program. I ordered it used online. I have boiled eggs in frig and I marinate chicken breast and also london broil in italian dressing and ms dash. Its sooooo good. I cut them up to last for few days and do the same for brown rice and salid stuff or frozen veg. The hardest part for me is giving up candy, which is my problem. Ive gone from 161.5 lb to 155.5.

I started this diet on sunday. So far I’ve lost 4 lbs. I hope i keep loosing. It hasn’t been as hard as i thought. My cravings for sugar is going slowly. I’m 48 and my metobalism is so slow, I guess perimenopause. I’m hoping this does the trick to get the 30 lbs i need to loose off.

I ordered this 6 body makeover, was charged $313.00., The amount of reading material and CRAP that I had to go through was not wroth it. Then when I called to cancel ~ they didn’t tell me I also needed to call to cancel the personal coaching whihc was at a different number. I was charged an additional $120.00 from THEM that they are refussing to reimbursement on…. DO NOT ORDER THIS, IT IS CRAP, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP. I am STILL waiting for my refund for my returned product and it’s been 2 weeks. Not sure how to change the start status but I give it 0 starts….

I will start the meal plan tomorrow 5/2/2011. It kind of scares me because I am such a picky eater and hate vegetables. I am also latina and like my white rice and meats. My personal trainer advised me of the meal plan, he says a lot of he’s clients have used it and it has worked. I also go to the gym 4 times a week and one time during the week I am with my trainer. Does anyone know a good substitution for broccoli? I just cant even stand the smell of it, or if I can at least eat it with something else? BTW I am 31, have two kids and this is the first time ever that I have tried something like this. I can truly say that I have very good genes from my mothers side and I am not fat, but I do want to learn how to eat better and want to get get fit. I only eat when I am hungry and the trainer advised me that is not good, that you should at least eat 4 -5 times a day :/ it will be very hard for me at the beginning. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND DONT GIVE UP :)

I tried this program in 2004, lost 18 lbs and gain a baby. Plan to start back after given birth, however my life changed has I was diagnoised w cancer after treatment. I had to deal with the financial ramifications. In February of 2011 my dr told me I was boaderline for diabetes, I see what my husband goes threw. I started on February 4 and had to repurchase the book, I have lost 16 lbs and the threat of diabetes has gone. Need to loose a total of 80 lbs. I give myself until Christmas. I like being healthy and if I didn’t start 7 years ago, my daughter wouldn’t be here, I proberly wouldn’t survive chemo, I survived everything and I am cancer free. George Thank You for this program. I was healthier then and I am healthier today.

I believe this is a great way to jump start a diet ,It does take some ajustments to eat 5-6 times a day ,especially if your use to eating only 2-3 full meals ,I lost 5-lbs the first week it was a little hard ,but i continued it to the end of the 6 weeks i lost 3 pants sizes and lost 16 lbs . im going to try another plan to help lose even more weight .

I started in Sept. of this year. I have lost 50 pounds. I first 3 months were hard. I was very hungry most of the time. Now I guess my body is used to it. I have shrunk my stomach and a little bit of food fills me up.

But, the start up was hard. It was hard going to bed hungry every night. You have to be tough to do this diet. I have followed other weight lost plans very carefully and this one has worked the best for me.
