321 Baby Bulge Be Gone

 By Mizpah Matus B.Hlth.Sc(Hons)

Baby Bulge Be GoneRamona Braganza, a Hollywood fitness trainer, is the creator of the 321 Baby Bulge Be Gone program. Her plan has gained in popularity due endorsements from celebrities including Jessica Alba and Halle Berry, who have successfully lost their pregnancy weight while under Braganza’s guidance.

The program is specifically targeted towards helping new mothers regain their pre-pregnancy bodies through a healthy diet and intensive exercise routine.

321 Baby Bulge Be Gone Diet Basics

321 translates as 3 meals, 2 snacks and 1 liter of water a day. The structure of the diet is very similar to the South Beach Diet with a focus on low glycemic carbohydrates, lean proteins and an abundant intake of vegetables. Braganza only allows fruits in moderation because she says they contain too much sugar.

The program is divided into three phases and lasts for twelve weeks. Each phase has a different calorie allowance and fitness requirements.

Braganza also shares with dieters some of her nutrition tips for weight loss including:

  • Always eat breakfast.
  • Avoid adding butter and sauces to your meals.
  • Emphasize salads (without dressing) and steamed vegetables.
  • Eat meats that are poached, baked, or grilled.
  • Instead of white pasta or rice, eat the wholegrain version.
  • Have fruit for dessert.

Recommended Foods

Low carbohydrate vegetables, eggs, chicken breast, tuna, lean beef, brown rice, whole wheat bread, nuts, legumes, balsamic vinegar, fruits in moderation.

Sample Diet Plan

Breakfast

Scrambled egg whites with whole-wheat toast.

Morning Snack

Low fat cottage cheese with strawberries

Lunch

Large salad with chicken breast.

Afternoon Snack

Dinner

Compound Exercises

Ramona acknowledges that many dieters have a limited amount of time to exercise so she utilizes compound exercises that work a lot of different muscles at the same time. She says that you will be able to build more muscles and burn fat when you recruit more muscle fibers into a single exercise.

The intensity of the exercise routines vary depending on what phase of the program you are on. You start at 25 minutes in the first phase and build up to 60 minutes in phase three.

All three phases involve a combination of strength training, circuit training, and cardio exercises.

Costs and Expenses

The Post-Partum Workout DVDs sell for $86.75 for the set of three or $35.50 each.

Fitness and nutrition tips are also available for free on the official website.

Pros

  • Targeted to meet the specific needs of women after childbirth.
  • Highlights healthy eating and exercise rather than crash dieting for fast weight loss.
  • Dieters are not required to give up their favorite foods.
  • The exercise program is assured as being safe both during and after pregnancy.

Cons

  • Many of the tips will not apply to women who have not had a child.
  • Exercise program may be too intense for beginners.
  • Involves counting calories.

Good for Motivated New Mothers

The 321 Baby Bulge Be Gone program will likely produce very good results for highly motivated new mothers.

A major advantage of this plan is that it encourages concentrating on good nutrition and exercise rather than crash dieting, but will still allow dieters to lose weight at a relatively fast pace.

Look up the book, “The Core program” by Peggy Brill. She’s a NY Physical Therapist, and her exercise program is doable for a busy mom! The book slogan is: “15 min a day that can change your life”

i have a 2 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. i am trying to lose the weight that i gained with my son. after i had him, i lost a lot of the weight that i gained. but now, almost 3 years later, i am almost back to the weight that i was before i had him, but want to get down to what i was before i had my daughter (almost 5 years ago). i have tried the Atkins diet, have tried workouts with my husband, and have tried healthy eating, NOTHING seems to work. looking for some better light on the situation!

I had my second child this part year. Although I was not overweight before I got pregnant, gained a respectable 20 pounds, and shed almost all of it right after I gave birth, I definitely did not look good. After the first couple of months after giving birth, despite nursing I gained a five pounds. I just wasn’t moderating myself. I felt out of shape and frumpy. My neighborhood for years has had a Stroller Strides group. I always thought it was full of snooty moms who walked around in Lululemon clothes and drank Starbucks all day and that their routine was something to scoff at. Who pays money to run around with a stroller? A friend of mine told implored me to try it and that it wasn’t what I thought. I reluctantly tried, and I was quite wrong! They beat you up hardcore! Of course all groups might work out differently but you could surprise yourself. The prices are not bad and I could work out with my kids, be outdoors, and meet new people. There is strength in numbers!

Have you tried a place like myfitnesspal.com and decrease your calorie consumption to 1200 or less? Also, look up the book: “The Core Program” which is specifically for women by a physical therapist. I’ve lost 10 pounds in 2 months time by doing the core program and watching calories. Then it stopped coming off, so I added jogging/walking this past week, and have already lost 2 lbs. that way. That’s what I’ve found has worked. :-) It takes a lot of determination and self discipline… but it’s well worth it. My hubby loved me before… but now… well. ;-)

Whatever you do, avoid nutrisystem. I spent 350$ and lost no weight because the diet as IMPOSSIBLE to follow. Yes, its already prepared and delivers quickly, however, the portions are so small I starved.

I tried weight watchers after my first child and lost more than what I gained during the pregnancy (which was a whopping 70 lbs!). I stayed thin until I had my second baby (Gained 85 lbs there!). I breast fed which made my stomach almost completely flat in just about a month. However, I cannot lose the last 15 lbs…

I work out 1.5 hours a day 5 times a week. My baby is now 9 months old and I diet and exercise and nothing worked for a few months. Then, I stopped caring. That alone helped me to lose another 20 of the 80 I had gained. I started to panic about the last 15 a few weeks ago due to work requirments and now I am stuck again.

I think not caring, exercising as much as YOU feel comfortable and splurging on foods is the key. Eventually your body gets tired of bad foods and tells you what you need to eat through cravings. I love to eat out, did it for a month straight and then just about went insane easting fresh vegetables because my body had enough.

I would suggest a care free attitude, a little extra movement (exercise or just a stroll with baby) and learning how to listen to your body and give it what it needs. If all else fails try weight watchers…and whatever you do BREAST FEED for at least a few months/weeks…whatever you and baby can stand.
