3 Day Diet
The 3 Day Diet is one of the most popular short-term fad diets around today. Many people adopt the diet to try and achieve short-term weight loss. However, unfortunately most people simply gain the weight back on again.
The 3 Day Diet is simply a low calorie diet (as can be seen by the meal plan). There is nothing magical – no mystical chemical reaction that goes on (as some seem to think). Weight loss is due to a sudden drop in calories – some of this may be fat – but most will be from water loss.
3 Day Diet Meal Plan
This diet is not recommended and should never be used for more than 3 days. This kind of diet is often used by those who experience “yo-yo” weight – it is not a good habit to get into.

Condiments Allowed
- Lemon (and lots of it, if you like)
- a dash of salt and/or pepper
- mustard
- cooking spray
Substitutions
Some people use the following substitutions for the 3 day diet:
- Orange instead of Grapefruit
- Tuna instead of Cottage cheese (and vice versa)
- Frozen yogurt instead of Ice Cream
- Cauliflower instead of Broccoli (and vice versa)
- Green beans instead of Broccoli or Cauliflower
- Beets instead of Carrots
- Toast instead of 5 crackers (vice versa)
Why not try the 100 Calorie Diet which is a healthier method of Calorie restriction.


Ok… I am starting tomorrow. Summer is fast approaching and I need to get my baby weight off. I have a 3 1/2 month old baby and the weight is not coming off. Is this Diet ok to do while I am breastfeeding??? My husband thinks I am crazy and it will not work. I am going to prove him wrong. If I eat health on the days I am not on the diet then it will be all good..

Yes!! this diet does work!! If you are serious enough you will stick to it, be careful though, what you eat on your days off.
Everytime I do this diet I loose 4/6Ibs,then sensibly eat for the 4days. Your body gets used to it too, and eating fruit and veg can’t be such a bad thing. Better than those daft milk shakes ehh!
woohooo day 1 over and done. hungry… so I am going to bed. I wld definetly say to stay super busy . I left the house with no cash. hey 2 benefits I cldnt get my daughter that ice cream from the dirty lil ice cream truck…ewww they don’t wash there hands (germ heaven) BUT I also cldnt make a quick stop to mickey d’s . okay goal for tommorow walk and get 100 oz of water down
wow a 10 year old wants to try this diet and noone says anything. Ummm not a good idea. … finished day one ate all the food but the apple hmmm always forget something at the store. super easy as I was on the go all day.
Lost 2 lb’s the first day. And none the next 2 days. Ran 3 miles every night too. Starved. Starved. Starved. My mom lost a total of 4 lbs. Feeling okay about it. Wished for better results. Take vitamins and drink lost of water while doing this. I would also sub fruit for the ice cream at dinner. Good luck.

it actually was’nt that hard.i went to the grocery store this morning to buy ice cream,crackers,cheese,brocolli,and peanut butter.dinner was the best cus u actually got to eat alot of food.i’m kind of hungry now so to beat the hunger im sipping on some black tea now.2 more days to go for a slimmer me.yayyy
I started the 3 day diet 3 wks ago now, i did it for 2 weeks and have had a break for a week, i will be back on it again this monday to wednesday, i have maintained my weight, i have lost approx 4lbs not loads i know but i have not put any back on even with a weeks break.
I think this diet could work, if fact after three days you could simply replace the tuna with samon or trout. Even Anchovies would work. Seafood is always going to be healthier option.

I HATE THIS DIET. YEA, YOU LOSE WEIGHT…BUT YOU SUFFER WHILE DOING IT.
this is the worst diet anyone can ever try! all you lose is water weight! you gain it back up in the long run.. or after a few days!!!
I am trying to lose at least 25 pounds I have been exercising and changing my eating habits and next week I am going to try the 3 day diet wish me luck.
my family and i have all been on the 3 day diet & it really does work but is very hard to stick to. my sis & i r the only ones stickin to it we’v lost bout 20lbs each in like 2 weeks which is great and i havent done it this week but my weight seems to have stayed about the same however i wouldn’t recommend that u stuff urself becaouse otherwise it was just a waste of time. good luck every1 update u next week which will be my week 3, goodbye flab!!!! lol xxx
Are you allowed to eat anything in between meals? Like snacks such as fruits? Or do you just eat the three meals a day exactly as instructed?????
Okay so Im on day 2 of the diet and Ive been running or walking 3 miles every night before dinner. Basically I am a quick satisfation type of eater, I eat what I want when I want it, faves like ramen or ice cream so this was a pretty big challenge for me. Although I am 5’4” and only 120 lbs, I just wanted to see what I could lose and the results on the look of my body in a bikini. 1st day I was really hungry, it made me think of all the food I wanted to eat, and made me look forward to things in the diet like cheese, c’mon cheese hahah. I skipped out the ice cream and ate more fruit instead. I also am taking a womans multivitamin each day because I know that the diet has very little nutritional value. I havent started day 2 breakfast yet and I just weighed myself with a loss of 2 lbs for the first day! I was skeptical, but thats awesome!!! Love it.
This was the first day of the diet. Tea filled me up a lot, so i wasn’t feeling hungry. Dinner was what i looked foward to.

I did this diet years ago and lost about 20 pounds, in about 3 weeks. I’m sure I would have lost more but I didn’t eat all the food on the menu. Now, I have just finished dinner on my second day (ate everything on the menu this time) and I feel full. The diet I have says to drink a lot of water and diet drinks. What has helped me in between meals is the water, helps curb your appetite. I haven’t felt weak or starved so I would think there are enough nutrients in what’s on the menu.
I intend to use fresh tuna since i can’t stomach canned. will it hurt to use other condiments? I intend touse calorie free condiments
I know someone who has been on this diet for a year. He started in April of ’07. 3 days on and 4 days off. The key is walking, water, and eating healthy on the four days. Of course, if you go out and pig out on the 4 days off, then naturally you are going to gain it back. My friend has lost over 200 lbs, believe it or not. When he started he weighed close to if not over 400 lbs. He now weighs in below 200 lbs. He has walked and drank plenty of water and has been faithful to the 3 on and 4 off plan. It’s true. I’ve seen the change right before my eyes. Every time I see him at church, I’m amazed. Also, the most amazing thing is that he has no sagging fat, no tummy tuck. He said, “As long as I keep losing body fat and slimming up, I’m going to keep doing this.” He made a believer out of me and now my friends and I are going to take a leap of faith and try this out.
I have cheated, I ate some beans, 3 pockey sticks (the chocolate covered bred things from japan or where ever) and 3 spoon fulls of frozen yogurt. hope it wok effet the scale toomuch..
okay so i dont know how much i lost the first day hut i weighted myself after the 2nd and i lost 1.5 pounds since the first day. I dont get how everyine is llike “oh you are just losing water weight!” when i am drinking all the water i was plus more like 5 bottles a day!
Im on day 2 of the diet..i hopped on the scale yesterday and already lost 3lbs. This was only day one so I’m excited to see how much ill weigh by the end of today. My mom does 90-120 minutes of cardio while on the diet as well. Im not sure how she does it being that without exercise, im starving. Try Aquafina’s new ALIVE water. I drink energize..it helps keep me moving. Would subway with water and yogurt for the 4 days be a good idea? It’s strange the 3-day diet i have taped to my fridge slightly differs from the one here. This one says u can eat a whole banana. Ive been eating only half.
This is a good diet but it is a quick fix to help you get your weight down for a special occassion. It’s not recommended for more than 3 days and it’s not good to eat less (because then your body goes in to starvation mode and you actually will retain weight as your body thinks there’s a famine coming).
The best way to follow this diet up is to carry on with a healthy eating plan and get moving!!!
I finished the 1st day of the diet today with no problems at all. It seemed like allot of food. I have felt good and had plenty of energy. I’m not going to weight until I’ve done the full 3 days. Will post again tomorrow night and let you know how day 2 goes!
When dose the diet really start to work? like have lost a pound in the first day but dose the weight start coming off in the last 2 days?? please answer i realy need someone to answer cuz i dont have anytime to waste!

I did this diet when I was a freshman in college. It works. You will be hungry, but your mind is stronger than your hunger. Keep the goal in mind. 10 lbs. can take up to 4 pounds of off your knees. I am going to try it again next week before I go on a cruise. I might be setting myself up for failure after I get on the boat!
this diet is perfect for the pounds put on in the winter. i do not think it should be used by serious dieters. lifestyle change is the big key for them. just helps to make your clothes fit a little better.
I lost 13 pounds in 3 days, and put it all back on plus more in 3 weeks.
