18 Pounds in 4 Days

Background

18 pounds in 4 days is a weight loss program that was created by James Zeta. In his search for the solution to his own weight loss concerns he states that he discovered a special combination of foods that enabled him to lose weight rapidly.

Zeta claims that his program can show dieters how to lose weight and even up to 18 pounds in 4 days. He says that he managed to lose 20 pounds in less than a week simply by following the principles outlined in his plan.

There are two parts to the program. The first part is the diet and the second part concentrates on maintaining the weight loss.

Diet Basics

18-pounds-in-4-daysThis diet aspect of the plan is a four-day calorie restricted diet, which is based around mainly vegetables with lean proteins and small amounts of fruits.

He advertises his program as not requiring any special foods, but rather as involving specific combinations of regular foods that supposedly jump starts the weight loss process.

Zeta asserts that there is no need for supplements, meal replacements, or exercise in order to achieve rapid weight loss.

He provides a detailed outline of what dieters should do for the first four days of his program along with a complete meal plan. He then offers tips to dieters that will help them to keep the weight loss in the long term.

Breakfast every day includes half a grapefruit and the rest of the diet is centered on vegetables with some eggs, chicken and meat.

Recommended Foods

Vegetables including butternut squash and green beans, beef, chicken, eggs and small amounts of fruit including grapefruit.

Recipe ideas can be found here.

Exercise Recommendations

Dieters are forbidden to exercise during the four-day program but exercise after is fine. He states that his clients actually achieve better results when they don’t exercise.

Costs and Expenses

The program costs $27 and payments are accepted via Pay Pal.

Pros

  • Includes a detailed 4-day meal plan.
  • Appeals to those who want to lose weight fast for a special event.
  • Rapid weight loss may increase motivation to stick with a longer-term approach to weight management.
  • Offers suggestions to help with maintaining weight loss.

Cons

  • Most dieters will experience fatigue and hunger on such a low calorie diet.
  • Gives dieters unrealistic expectations in terms of weight loss.
  • Majority of weight loss will be water rather than fat.
  • Any weight lost is likely to be regained as soon as normal eating is resumed.
  • No scientific evidence is offered in order to support his claims.
  • Most of the support for the diet is in the form of testimonials.
  • Author of the diet has no nutrition or health credentials.
  • Expensive for a short program.
  • There are some reports of failure of the author to follow through with the money back guarantee.

Conclusions

Even if it were possible to lose 18 pounds in 4 days, it is certainly not a healthy approach to weight loss. If dieters experience any significant results on this program this will be largely attributed to water rather than true fat loss.

Zeta is encouraging a quick fix mentality that will ultimately leave dieters feeling discouraged when the desired results are not achieved. In addition his lack of credentials and the various reports of his failure to honor the money back guarantee brings his credibility and that of his diet into question.

Why not try 28 pounds in 28 days which is a healthier, more realistic option.

    Tanzy girl
My husband has had cronic pain for 3 years…a million doctors…..on a ton of medication. He also gained weight.
He has been on an anti-inflammatory diet and it has done wonders for him. He lost 10 pounds within a couple of weeks (it is pretty restrictive) and his pain level has gone done. He has more energy than I have seen in many years.
Just an FYI…it takes a good 10 days before you start feeling better so if you decide to do it, you need to give it at least 2 weeks.
    Good luck!

    I thought I’d try this because…
    1. I’m not as mobile as I use to be. I live with chronic pain and take 5 different meds. That in itself has help to pack on the lbs. The “no exercise” drew me in.
    2. I need to lose as much weight as I can within a 5 wk period. Next month, hubby and I will be Celebrating our 25th.
But after reading all of the latest comments, this will NOT be something I’m going to try! THANK YOU guys for being so honest!!

It’s so frustrating because I hardly eat much of anything but still, I gain weight and working out is so difficult due to my pain. I drink a lot of water and I do eat my veggies and fruits. When I eat chicken or beef, it’s never fried. As for snacks? If I’m craving something sweet, I’ll eat it but instead of eating the entire piece of cake, candy, etc., I only eat half of it.

My husband is an AMAZING cook and for the most part, everything he makes is healthy however, there are those rare occasions when he does make Mexican food (I love me some Mexican rice, lol) which of course, is not healthy. Though when I do eat that type of food, I limit my intake. That’s a little tough to do when the food taste as gooood as it does! LOL At this point I’m just so frustrated because no matter what I do, the lbs. are not coming off!!!

I stand 5 ft tall so even an extra 5 to 10 lbs. are very noticeable. I use to weight between 110 to 115. Now? I don’t even want to tell you how much I *think* I weight. I haven’t been on a scale in a looong time!

With all that being said, I’m wondering if there’s anyone out there who can help me? Does anyone else have to take several meds a day, who’s limited to the amount of exercise they can do, etc.? If so, have you found a successful weight loss plan? As long as I don’t have to pop another pill (I take far to many as it is!), I’m open to any suggestions.

I wish someone would develope a program that could help people like myself. I know for a fact that I’m NOT alone in this situation. This is something I’ve been struggling with for over 10 yrs. Trust me, if I had the ability to go back to school to obtain the knowledge needed, I would have come up with a program by now. The fact that everyday household chores is a battle for me, that pretty much sums up why I can’t go to school, not even online. Please don’t feel pity for me. That’s not why I told my story. I told it because I need help… period. What amount of time I have left on this earth, I want to be as healthy as I can be and live life to the fullest!!! :D

Should there be someone who can help, please let me know here first and then we’ll take it from there, thanks. Best wishes to you all. I hope that each and every one of you are able to find your path to reaching your weight loss goals, safely!! And Thanks for taking the time to read my ~Novel~. ;)

I ordered this plan and first of all I was not able to download it or even open the file, so I’m grateful that someone posted the plan. As far as reaching him and or them…….. GOOD LUCK!!
He does not respond to any of my request’s or questions…getting your refund, it won’t happen.

Those who comment about it taking a few days for him to get back to you etc. are either very lucky, did it earlier before people caught on…or work for him to write these statement because they certainly are not true. Good luck to you that are awaiting a response and or a refund from him….he takes your money then he is gone! Jail is full of people doing that same thing!

I have done this diet and it does work. I have lost only 12 lbs in the 4 days. I have done it several times. And yes it is mostly water weight for the first round but it does clean you out and give you the drive to continue. I got it from my Aunt but I do not have the maintenance plain for after does anyone have that? I have just been staying away from breads, sugars and starches. Someone did post the diet on this site so you don’t have to pay the $27, just need to post the maintenance plan if anyone has it.

I’m starting this tomorrow. My only hesitation is the coffee…I don’t drink/like coffee. So? Not sure what I’ll do there. Seriously people….it’s only $27.00. If it’s the last $27 you have to your name, I would suggest you NOT spend it here. Otherwise, I’ve spent $27 on a book at barnes & nobles without thinking twice…. it’s not that big a deal. And the post from “Jack” in Oct 2010 saying that he & his wife were hospitalized for malnutrition after following this plan for 4 days? Come on, how do you find enough intelligence to log onto the internet? Some people just make me laugh.

Any diet you will loose 3-4 pound the first few days.
That is because you are cleaning out your bowels and putting less food in. You aren’t really losing actual fat. It is like emptying out the rocks in your pockets.

3500 calories equal one pound. Sometimes, these diets are mostly water lose. Which you gain back right away.

Proper diet (educate yourself on nutrition) and activity. Which is a lifestyle change. That is the only way. Eat to match your calorie requirement to maintain or get to a certain weight. Working out excessively will make you eat more (as your metabolism goes up) the day you stop, you still eat as if you are working out, so you gain the weight back…more of it.

Elaine, are you working for James Zeta by any chance? That’s what I could gather from your post anyway, looks like you are almost promoting him…(?) Did you read all the instructions carefully? This diet has nothing to do with fasting, because that’s not what you are doing here. It says that you will lose more by eating the foods on the list than not eating at all. Everything looks healthy, I agree, to the point when you start losing weight. Like I said – weight loss is TOO QUICK, so how will yours or anybody else’s body react to another extreme? I hope, not the same way mine did. If you drive – you will become liability on the road, because your body shakes uncontrollably, and level of concentration is not the same for some reason… + massive headache form at least 2 cups of coffee on an empty stomach and in between the meals. What I want to say here is that James on his website advertises this diet very well, and includes ONLY positive comments, enough to encourage you to buy it, because you really really really want the same result as they did. He doesn’t tell you about possible side effects and that people with serious or long term illnesses should NOT do it at all, does he? Of course not, because that would make you think twice before pressing that ‘buy’ button. All i’m trying to say here, dear all, please use your brain, action – possible consequences.
If you are trying to lose weight you’d better steam or bake your meat/fish rather than fry it in lots of grease. More fruit and veg – in salad, steamed or boiled. And smaller portions ple-e-e-ease! Sweet snacks like chocolate, biscuits or candies should become an occasional treat 1-3 per week until you have reached your weight goal, and here is another rule ‘if you don’t want it – don’t buy it’ better not to have it than be tempted. If you have a problem with sharp feeling of hunger foods with low Glycemic Index (GI) are really helpful, they have a steady energy release into the body and you will feel full for a long time without any need to snack. Try not to eat after 19:00, your stomach needs to relax at night just like you do, and if you add a little exercise like a walk or even a 10min run after 16:00 you will set your body in a calorie burning motion for the rest of the day and night. It’s all common logic that we know about but sometimes don’t want to see. Good luck everybody, be successful and respect yourselves, you CAN do it.

I just ordered his 4 days diet last night. And plan on trying it out in a couple of days. Im a little bit sceptical but I really hope it works. Im 40lbs overweight and can safely lose a large amount of weight in a short amount of time. Honestly in my opinion I dont see why this diet would be detrimental to your health unless youre not healthy to begin with. Its actually a healthy thing to fast without any food at all, or even a liquid diet and even a one meal a day diet. People in the Muslim religion have Ramadan once every year which is a fast where you dont eat or drink until night fall for a whole month. So eating a restricted diet is not bad for you. Also its important to take your daily vitamins so that you still get what your body needs. Also If youre thinking about trying the diet I would invest in Maca capsules. Its an herb that helps with your energy levels and many other great things ( look it up ) but you can buy from iherb.com for a good price, my favorite brand is NowFoods and you can read the reviews to see how its helped others. Now i think this diet is the beginning of a commitment to eat healthy for a lifetime. Many people i know who has restricted sertain foods form theyr diet has lost and kept off a large amount of weight. And not just water weight but FAT. Of course eating startchy foods, grease, sugar and salts contributes to obesity so its only common sense to limit your intake of those things to lose the weight it has caused you to gain. Thats all this diet seems to be doing! And $27 is nothing compared to $300 every month for prepackaged foods that aids in a very slow weight loss like Nutrisystem and Medifast. So Im going to give this thing a shot and see how much of a jump start to my weight loss goals it gives me!! Good Luck to Me and To Anyone Else who is taking the Challenge!!!:)

… Every time I go to a supermarket 80% of people I see with full trolleys of all sorts of junk food are clinically obese and i think it’s a tragedy, don’t you?… but to the point – 18 pounds which I believe is around 9.5 kilos (in Europe we don’t do pounds) in 4 days, as James states, will probably work only for very BIG people, but not for someone who is only 70 or 80kg and trying too loose the excess. I tried this plan for 4 days, lost 3kg but on day 5 felt quite weak and was constantly cold. There were 2 positives to this experiment : 1- its a ‘quick fix’, very quickly I had lost quite a lot of weight with little effort and note that it wasn’t all water or muscles like many so called ‘experts’ like to comment on other websites but fat (and believe me i am not trying to promote James Zeta’s business in any way, I think its a bit of a rip off with which he has secured himself a steady income almost for life as long as there are people who want to lose weight exist in the world, brilliant idea don’t you think?) Secondly – due to quite a lot of restrictions during this diet a few nasty symptoms that I had for some time (and my doctor after numerous tests couldn’t explain) had disappeared. In depth analysis and a following medical illumination diet showed that i was gluten intolerant. I wouldn’t have known it had i not gone on this silly diet. To sum up, my personal opinion is that this diet works and you can lose up to mayby even 4 kg per 4 days, but i wouldn’t recommend it – its too fast, body goes into shock and for some people it can be fatal. There are a few other fundamental flaws like taking more than 1 cup of coffee on an empty stomach, drinking water before eating rather than half hour before the food intake, and a few others make this diet not very good for our health. But with a few modifications it can work as a steady weight loss especially for those who like myself work in an office and don’t do much exercises. I would gladly share my experience and try to help people, who genuinely not only would like to lose weight but want to become healthy for life and enjoy it, which is much more important. If that is what you want to do than write to me on lili1792@hotmail.co.uk and I will try to reply as soon as I can. It’s not my business, I don’t charge for a piece of advice, i just want to help. But remember you need to want to change your life style otherwise you won’t succeed!

I started the 3 day diet and which you can find online… I’ve heard alot of negative things about this 4 day diet… The 3 day diet works and I added some snacks to it… In 2 days I went from 149 to 142… I recomend this to anyone because you can cheat (add snacks) and still loose the weight without starving…. Good luck…
