Exercise Reduces Prostate Cancer Deaths
A new study, presented at the American Association for Cancer Research Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference says intense exercise each day can help cut death rate from prostate cancer.
Experts examined the activity levels of over 2,500 people, both before being diagnosed with prostate cancer and after diagnosis.
And data showed men exercising three or more hours a week, like jogging or swimming, were 35% less likely to die from prostate cancer.
But light exercise, like walking, does not lower risk. To lower mortality, researchers insist strenuous activities are key. Men engaged in five or more hours of vigorous exercise each week had less death risk.
Scientists believe exercise helps influence hormones that boost immune system function and reduce inflammation.
All exercise is good for prostate cancer survival, but experts recommend vigorous activities most of all.
